we are on an extremely tight budget, through choice!
and as our guests will have to do quite a bit of driving to return home we are thinking of having a booze free reception, i dont want drunks at my wedding as i dont want to be getting upset with idiots.
do you think a wedding would be boring with just fruit juices over a three course dinner plus the cheese boards and one glass of sparkling wine for arrival?

My husband asked me to yesterday, and I said that was silly-it´s not a costume, but now I´m thinking of doing it to see his reaction.

What do you think?

My parents wants me to marry a woman I haven't met before. She is not ugly in the picture and also came from a well off family. But the problem is I have a bf and I love him more. I am bi. What should I do? Will I run away and leave all the assets that I am set to receive?

It looks ugh in picture, but it is soo pretty on and the green is perfect. It is dressy, maybe night time fabric, but the ceremony is at 11am. i'm just wondering what type of shoes. i know strappy would look too evening. it's in may, too. are there shoes that would make it maybe no too cocktail looking...it is a bridesmaid dress, though, so maybe im worrying about shoes for nothing. :)

My fiance's sister got married a year and a half ago, and, although I gave her lingerie at her bridal shower, my fiance (who was in the wedding) and I never got her a proper wedding gift. We were planning to do it shortly after the wedding, but never did, and it's been hanging over my head for a long time now. I would really like to get her a wedding gift now, but am not sure how to do it without seeming tacky. I am especially worried, now that I am engaged, that she will think I am only giving her a gift in order to get one from her next June.

I know I got myself into a bad situation etiquette-wise, but what is the best thing I can do to get out of it? (I am considering getting an expensive household item -- like a set of good kitchen knives -- to give to her at Christmas and explaining to her then that it is to make up for the wedding gift we didn't buy.)

Ok first off my wedding is jewel theme. Jade, Pink, and blue because my hubby to be is wearing his army dress blues. what colors of flowers would look the best and what kind? I don't want large or very extravagant. maybe 5 flowers for the bridesmaids and up to 10 for mine. Also, what kind of decorations would look best with those colors? Is it normal to get tons of anxiety while trying to plan the wedding? And last question (i think) is why is it people do not like davids bridal? I ordered my wedding gown from them on sunday and they seem wonderful so far??? Thanks everyone!

I am getting married next August and my colours are dark chocolate brown, pistachio green, and ivory. I am wearing ivory and my bridesmaids are wearing chocolate brown while the groom and groomsmen are wearing chocolate brown suits with pistachio ties. My mum and m-i-l have asked me what colour I think they should wear. I don't mind really but I don't know if there is any rule of thumb on this. What do you think???

I am getting married in June 2008 and am thinking of having a wildflower theme for my wedding. How would it look if each bridesmaid carried a different hand-tied bouquet made primarily of just one type of wildflower (possibly with a little touch of the same filler flower to tie them all together)? For my bridal bouquet, I would have a mix of all the different types of wildflowers used in the bridesmaid bouquets. Has anyone ever done this or seen this done?

What wildflowers do you recommend using? My bridesmaid dresses are medium-light blue.

sometime in the last week someone posted a question asking what peoples engagement rings looked like. A lady answered who posted a pic of her set. I wanted to print out the photo of the set because I loved her wedding band and her engagement ring is similar to mine. I cant find this question now, despite trolling thru everywhere!
I think the lady's name was "proud to be 51" or something along those lines. Can anyone help me track down this question or if that lady is out there I would appreciate her contacting me. I know this probably sounds odd.

I am getting married in June. I have almost picked out my dress and have started to look around for bridesmaid dresses. (Thanks to all you here at Y!A with your help on that, by the way.)

I have found a bridesmaid dress from Alfred Angelo that I really like:
http://www.alfredangelo.com/index.cfm/fuseAction/COLLECTIONS.productDetail/fromAdvancedSearch/0/productID/d67f5cd6-3962-4f1e-a236-1760682c7d88/categoryID/772F03C9-DE43-4942-BFA0-DA77E21EBD65
What has been your experience with Alfred Angelo bridesmaid dresses? Would you recommend them? (I read one bad review on here, but most of you seem only to dislike David's Bridal.)

I felt bad, but she never mentioned anything the night befor, she just got her boyfriend to call my husband and he had to tell me she wasnt going to come. She didnt, and only gave me hours notice! Should i try and work through this? or is this just a sign of things to come?

My first love is a very good guy, lots of qualities, so good looking, so smart, but oh, so cold to me. He said that he's cold because he doesn't want me to get bored of him. Yes, he was happy to be with me, but his coldness hurt. And so, i later found another guy, that was very caring, understanding, very loving, and so wise and kind to me. He wants to marry and have alot of kids. The perfect family guy, and very loyal. Now when i decided that i would like to marry him, my first love comes and says that he loves me very much, and wants to marry me too. He's not cold to me anymore either. What to do, i like them both, they complete eachother in a way. What would be the wisest choice? I would like to have a guy to love and to feel always loved. The indifference hurts me a lot.

My fiance and I dated in highschool while I was a freshman and he a senior. We went our seperate ways when he graduated and left for the marines and I had to finish school. We both married, but still felt like we should have been together, after divorcing we looked for each other and now we are back together and getting it right this time! He wants me to wear white and being our second I don't agree. I am ok with wearing a wedding dress for him...but I think it should be off white of some shade....ivory, cream, champaign...but he insists on white, because it should have been done this way the first time? What do you think? I also feel I look terrible in white! I look much better in something with a golden tone.

I'm thinking about renting some candelabras for my wedding. The problem is, I know my guests would like to take them home. I come from a family where it is customary for the guests to take the centerpieces home. How can I tell my guests they will not be able to take them home, without hurting feelings?

Well, his grandma has offered to add herself into the mix instead of using mostly store/resutrant additions. The problem is her food is very ethnic (Polish) and would be strange to my family. Even I find some of it weird after 4 years....some things like goose liver appitizers is just gross. Her cooking isn't the best in the first place and I would much rather just get some roasted chickens from the deli to go with my grandpas brisket and my dad's chili for entrees.

How can I let her down without offending her? I tried to have her do desert but she just replied "I don't bake dear" then started listing more strange/gross ethnic foods she wanted to consider for the menu.
