My husband and I were recently married ( Sept. 1). We have not sent our pictures to family yet. We are planning on a photo card for our Holiday card this year, with a wedding photo on it. We agree that that would be a good idea.

But, my husband wants the caption to read

" Merry 'Married' Christmas Love, The Smiths "

It is kindda cute. But is it so cute that it is annoying?

Just looking for opinions.

Yeah I agree with Loon-A and vle045. It's cheesy and not really a great word play. I love getting the picture cards from people--especially if I wasn't invited to the wedding. I can update my address book so that in the future I have it right. I think it's important to include your address on the inside and the date of your marriage. My first Christmas I made little photo albums for the close people. Grandmothers, my bridesmaids, and the aunts that threw me such amazing showers. That way it was mostly the pictures of their family. I made every one unique and different. My grandmother got pictures of all her grandchildren but my husband's side of the family got mostly pictures of them and the relatives they don't see often. It took me forever but that Christmas it made them all cry. They all keep their photo album out all the time.

I'd just do something traditional and not try to be funny. Especially if you aren't sold on it, keep working until you find something you both like. Especially b/c these are going to be on people's fridges for a lot longer than you expect.

Cheesy yes, but it's for your first card as a married couple. I say go for it. It would only be annoying if you actually say that phrase all the time, like when answering the phone, or talking at a party. Things get annoying with repetition, not just once printed on an appropriate card.

it may sound cute, but in all honestly it doesn't make sense at all!! how about something different like 'merry christmas, love the smiths'...after all, im pretty sure they will realize it's your first christmas as a married couple...you dont need to tell them

It's not cute. It looks more like a feeble attempt at a word play. "Married Christmas" is probably closer to what he is going for. Get it? It's a play on the word Merry.... but it is not too clever, really.

I think it's better to just write something that makes sense...

"Merry Christmas from the Newlyweds"

Or

"Our First Christmas"...

...if you must work in the whole newlywed angle.

When you have to try too hard to be "cute", it's not cute.

Excuse me while I go clean up my pile of vomit. Way to cutesy, actually not even that, just annoying. Were I your friend, I would harass you endlessly about this (not in a mean way, but still harass). And what about the single people in your life? They will not be having a married anything. It may seem like you are rubbing your happiness in their face because they are not having a "Married" Christmas. Do everyone a favor a just write "From the Newlyweds" or "Thinking of you as we celebrate our first Christmas as man and wife". Plays on words usually don't go over well. This is a prime case in point of that.

If I got that card I'd instantly think "oh barf" and then I'd just look at the photo anyway. Your dime so do what you want. It can't be nearly as bad as the wedding photo christmas card my sister recieved. It had the bride and groom sitting on a tractor.

Honestly, I don't even think it's kinda cute......(I don't even GET the cuteness)....

How about "Our First Christmas Together" or
"Our First Married Christmas"

Mine are lame as well but tell your hubby to keep trying :)
