My son is getting married and he and his future wife do not want to register for any gifts. They have been together for a long time and do truely have everything they need. Instead they would like to set up something called a "money tree." They have said they do not expect the guest to put money in if they don't want to. But registering for things they do not need seen silly to them. I have been informed they do not want to be put in the same situation as my oldest daughter. I was told my oldest registered just to make me happy and to shut me up. Apparently she did not need anything either. And I also found out they had a yard sale and over half the gifts they received were sold because they did not need them. I've been told this money tree is at a lot of weddings. Maybe I'm just to old fashion. My son and daughter inlaw are good people. They never asked for anything not even a dime for the wedding. Should I keep my mouth shut and let them do as they wish?

I have known my husband & his family for 16 years . I was close to one of his girl cousin . We were invited to her wedding and we gave her $100.00 that was all we could afford . I had just had my twins and money was tight . Ever since then she doesn't call & when my husband calls she doesnt pick up the phone. Could it have been the money ? I became pregnant and she didn't even call and now she is pregnant . My husband wants nothing to do with her . Should I call her even if she hasn't seen my now 14 month old child ?

I am planning my wedding and was wondering what your ideas are for the perfect temperature for an outside ceremony. I wanted to get married in Mid-March when the average weather in north Florida (White Springs) is around 74, but the venue is not available. Do you think it is too cold when the average temperature is between 68-70 (late February)? The wedding ceremony will be outside, but the reception will be inside.

My mother knows this Flower lady and likes her work and my fiance likes and seen her work and wants to go with the same flower lady. Well today my fiance called me and asked if I could get ahold of the flower lady for an appointment on Saturday.

I said no problem.

Well I called my mom to get her phone number and my mom sounded like she wanted to call the flower lady so I said okay let me know the time on when the appointment is so I can tell my fiance. About 30 mins went by and my fiance called and asked if I called yet. I told her my mom wanted to call so I let her do it. To rap up the story my fiance thinks I passed the duty on so I didnt have to do it. I want to be involved with planning but if I get into trouble everytime, I dont want to do any planning anymore. Do I put my foot down or just apolige? What would you do if you where me?

We are having a small-ish church wedding in January. My family is very religious and won't touch alcohol, whereas my fiance's family knows how to party with the best of them. (We are both middle of the road)

So I was thinking of having a simple cake and punch reception at the church right after the ceremony. (Say an hour or two), then everyone that wants to party, can come to the 2nd reception at his parent's house where there will be music and alcohol.

What do you think about having 2 receptions?

I haven't found them yet, but I have paid for the service. I am hoping that I can find them before I get married. My adoptive parents made it clear that they will not attend my wedding and I do not want to deal with the awkwardness of one set of parents not being there.

I have a friend who is getting married in a few months. They are having an engagement party later this month. I am on a tight budget, but I would like to buy them a nice gift. I purchased a picture frame that was wedding themed and the bride's style. Should I add something to that? The frame was pretty inexpensive.

I have been invited to a wedding and in the invitation was a card stating how many people would be attending and that dinner would be $20.00 a plate and to be sent by a certain date. Is this normal? I have seen this one time before years ago. What do you think?

Bride and Groom are both early 40's, she married twice before, he married once before.

In September I attended a "Housewarming/Wedding Shower/Groom Birthday /Toga" Party for the couple.

A housewarming gift was given when Groom purchased the home and was not yet engaged to Bride. Groom acknowledged the gift with a big hug and thank you. Fast foward to the party from hell. I brought a very nice shower gift and put it with the other gifts, so my even bringing it in the first place wasn't acknowledged.

I received the wedding invite a week later with TWO different registery cards in the wedding invite! TACKY.

I haven't received any sort of thank you for the shower gift. They received maybe 10 gifts at the party, so it should have been an easy task.

I'm a little bitter about this and won't short them a wedding gift, but I also don't want to spend $$$ if it's not appreciated! Advice?

Your fiance went away with work for 2 weeks, a month before your wedding?

My fiance regularly works away from home - fine, I accept that. But he told me he would keep the last 2 months before we got married 'free'.

He's now told me he's off to Canada for a week to a conference (his choice, he wasn't made to go) and then he's staying an extra few days to see some family out there.

He has been to this conference every year for the last 5 years and he can probably go again next year.

I was really unhappy when he told me.

Who's being unreasonable here - me or him?!!

I had a wonderful day, but some things went wrong like the invitation, dress, photographer & a little of how it went. It really bugs me & I still cry over it until today. I know I can't do anything about it, but is there a way how I can forget and get over those big deals?

I know the marriage is more important, but I am a perfectionist, and I questioned my action "Why didn't I do that?"

The couple does not have their own home, I believe they are living with parents, so household items are out.

Thanks?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 3 years. He is 31, I'm 26. I want to get married soon. How do I approach this without sounding demanding or pushy. I don't want him to ask me to marry him because I made him or because I gave him an ultimatum. Any advice?

My boyfriend and I have been together for about 2.5 years. We've been talking about taking our relationship to the next level and getting engaged. I'm still in college and he's worried that when he asks my mom she won't want us to get engaged until I graduate. We're both worried that even though we're both ready, the people in our lives will not bless a two year engagement. We're worried that others will make us feel that our decision is wrong....we need answers!

My two 19 year old friends are getting married the day after Thanksgiving. They don't have a house together and the groom is in the military so they hardly get to see each other. I have no idea what to get them as a gift. Any ideas?
