both my maid and matron of honor are planning seperate bridal showers (They keep me in the loop but i told them not to tell me too much).
One shower will be in my hometown , the other, where i currently live, theres a 2 hour driving distance between so to make it easier on the guests who don't drive to columbus....lol they don't have to.

Is it acceptable for me to request healthy food at the bridal shower? I'm on a diet and I don't want the junk (aka cupcakes, candy, junk only)...
I would make a suggestion for salad, meat/cheese trays and veggie trays....they are planning to get a cake as most showers ive been to do. but thats fine....but is it ok to ask for healthy alternatives to the regular food? :)

One more pertaining to Bridal showers..is it rude to open gifts in front of guests? I heard this from someone (not in the area i live) but now im curious and im paranoid..if it is i'd rather take them home...

i have found a nice place to have my wedding at and they provide the food , cake cutting , linnes , a place to get maried, glasses , they will take care of flowers when they arive , a room to get ready in for groom and bride. its a little expensive like 30 dollars a plate . all together it would be like 3000 .second choice to have it at a nice hall somewhere where they dont provide nothing . i would have to buy food and linnes , toasting glasses ect .the grooms mom thinks it would be cheaper doing it all myself.

So my question is..
Is there a website that has examples of wedding poses? Or does anyone have any great ideas?
I already have my list made up but I would like something other than just standing beside one another

My boyfriend and I have been together for more than two years (and have been really close friends for almost ten). He has this fear with showing affection in public. He and I have been discussing marriage, and I can't help but wonder what our wedding will be like ("you may now kiss the bride... no? Ok just shake her hand").

I won't push the issue with him because I know it makes him uncomfortable. Seriously now, what do you think I should expect at the altar? I would hope he can push back his phobia long enough to kiss me in front of our friends and family.

Do any of you think I should maybe bring it up? Or should I just let it go? I could really use some advice on this one.

on your future spouse for arrests, convictions, felonies, or did you investigate his previous wives or girlfriends to find out what kind of man he was? Like let's say an abuser, batterer, or just a con guy? Or do you just let LOVE rule over your minds and say he is just a good guy?
Now, if you don't want to do a background check, is it because of money, trust issue, or reason?
And if you do find he's one of the above, would you leave him and break engagement.

No official wedding song discussion yet, but we have been together for almost 7 years and our songis NSync's "This I promise you." ( I know, I know...but in our defense, we started dating when we were 17!) That is pretty much the only song we think of as our special song. But how corny will people think it is if that is our wedding song?

Should we use the song because it really means something to us and has been our song for so long, or should we start searching for a new song that might seem more "acceptable"? I know it's our wedding and we shouldn't care what people think, but I also don't want everyone to make fun of us! What do you think?

I want to get married on Valentine's Day of 2008, but its on a weekday so I would have to have it in the evening, possibly night. I was thinking about just having a ceremony, and the immediate family go out after the ceremony for dinner or something.

ok long story short..i love love love shoes! i have hundreds of shoes from $20 vintage shop ones to $2000 designer signed ones. so for my wedding i want to get a basic classy white heal but die it a very very light blue (for my some thing blue) my mother thinks this is very tacky and wants me to do white. i figured no one will see them any ways. is this a battle worth fighting with my mother? or should i just find some thing else blue?

I don't know the bride at all and I'm not much more than a casual friend of the groom. I'm not part of his main circle of friends, I only know him because I used to work for his family. I was unfairly dismissed from the job and don't get along with his father, though my friend doesn't seem to know the details. I don't think it would be fair to play such an important role in the wedding as I think there will be an unpleasant atmosphere between me and my friend's family and I would rather not be put in that position. I don't want to hurt my friend's feelings by telling him I don't want to do it or about my disagreements with his father, but I need to get out of this situation. The wedding is going to be in St Lucia early next year but I want to decline now rather than accept and then let them down at the last minute.

I got married in September 2005. I had a very good rapport with me photographer and his wife. I received the proofs and sent him my album layout over a year ago. He will not return my e-mails and when I sent him a demanding message about a month ago his wife replied back that they sent out my album to be put together and they have had a rough year. A few deaths and a sick mother. I have e-mailed him twice since then and he is not returning my e-mails. The catch is that I have sent a lot of referrals his way and my best friend will be using him in September 2008 for her wedding so I will have to see him then. I feel bad contacting a lawyer but I really want my pics! Has anyone had a similar problem or any advice?

We're getting married in Pittsburgh next October. We'd like to have the ceremony and the reception in the same place, and we have lots of guests coming from different states, so we would like the place to look nice, i.e. no firehalls. We also have a caterer that we want to use. It seems like all the nice places have their own catering and the inexpensive places where you can BYOB and food are dumps. Internet searches seem to only find the expensive places with boring caterers. Any ideas?

Is it bad to put things like movies on your registry? My finance and I are going to be dirt poor (lol) plus we are having a baby so we won't be able to go out all that much. DVDs would be a really good thing for us to have for when we can't go anywhere. I just wasn't sure if it was a bad idea or not..I'm really new to this stuff.
