I agree, have it made or start looking through bridesmaids dresses.
I will also say this, I read an article about Sarah Jessica Parker a while ago regarding her wearing a black wedding gown because she wanted to be unique and different than other brides. The one thing she said was that looking back on her wedding day, that black dress was her one true regret. Because you only get to wear the white dress once, she really wished she had done it. Just some food for thought for you from someone who did the black dress thing.

I get so annoyed at people that say "Oh don't wear black (or whatever colour), you'll regret it" You have obviously put a lot of thought in to what you want to wear and have made that choice as your "fairy tale" dress, and I applaud you for being a bit different and doing things your way. I have two sites for you, one is for bespoke dresses, there aren't any black ones that I can see but I am sure they could do black.

Scroll down on the left to see some other dresses.
And this site I just LOVE:

How cool is that. Any bridemaid dress comes in a standard black and it is very common these days to have another color besides white or ivory or a traditional wedding dress with a accent color look on davidsbridal.com do a google church.

Have you thought about buying a white dress and finding a place that specializes in dyeing fabrics? It's getting close to the holidays, so department stores are starting to put out all their holiday dresses. Go to the formal sections of a department store and look through their dresses -- black is always in stock for long gowns.

i think of which will seem outstanding! that is unique and exciting, plus it appears that evidently once the concern of your mom in regulation's white gown with out inflicting a family contributors feud over it. and you're honestly ideal approximately white = purity being, as you place it, "bullcrap." it quite is an prolonged-working trend vogue started with the aid of Queen Victoria, who wanted to instruct off some lace she had inherited; no longer something extra, no longer something much less. only like with the Duchess of Cambridge right this moment; whilst a royal wore some thing all of us else did, too. It exchange right into a merchandising ploy that handed off to paintings ok which presented the assumption of white which capacity purity(as early because of the fact the 1870s-80s - only 30 - forty years after Victoria and Albert's wedding ceremony) and the assumption caught.

Please don't embarrass yourself with your plan for a black wedding dress...Way too gothic and it will be disastrous. Black is for mourning the dead, not a joyous occasion like a wedding...Why do you want to do this? Just to cause shock and awe? Well, all I can say when you have a daughter and she opens your wedding album in years to come, you won't get the reaction you hoped for believe me, as she would be thinking you looked like a fairy princess not a gothic high priestess or satanic witch. If you wish to have some black, go to alfredangelo.com. He has some dresses that would have a small amount of trim that you could use black..but a solid black dress..Ugh. Something out of The Munsters and most people would be so shocked, that all they would talk about is your dress and how inappropriate it was, and not how lovely the wedding ceremony was or the reception...Think before you act and you have time to change your mind.

I was thinking about your question and the first thing that came to mind was.. you can have one professionally made. Though it might be a little exspensive depending on the cut. Then another idea came.. You could always find a dress that you love and have it professionally dyed. I'm thinking you can ask your bridal shop if they know of anyone.. maybe the shop that they send their gowns and shoes too?
I hope that helps and congrats! ♥

Colored dresses, including black, are common in Europe. They are extremely rare in the US. You can have the dress custom made by a local seamstress or get a party dress you love from a dept store. Also http://www.fairygothmother.com has pretty formal tops and skirts that you can mix and match.
