So my question is..
Is there a website that has examples of wedding poses? Or does anyone have any great ideas?
I already have my list made up but I would like something other than just standing beside one another

Ok someone with the username that looks like ' posted a reply to this question that I just saw and I want everyone to know that I did not put that there. They took parts of previous answers I made to someone else and made it look like I was yelling at everyone. It's down towards the bottom of the answers to this question. I'm sorry for this person's rudeness...I reported it and I'm hopeing they get what's coming to them.

I really like your idea of not going all expensive and hiring a photographer if your uncle does great pictures. I really like this site for poses. It's not traditional and should be done after you get married though. http://trashthedress.wordpress.com/ Here is another site that is a little more traditional but very pretty. http://www.digitalartsphotography.com/idaho-washington-wedding-photos/index.htm If I were you, I would just go to different sites and save the poses that you like as favorites so you remember them for later. I hope this helps.

Get some wedding magazines... and look at photographers websites and uh, steal the ideas. lol
My only suggestion would be that since you uncle isn't experienced (and even if he were) have someone else walk around with him that has your list of pictures and can mark off each and every picture as it is taken. And really, get silly with your list to the extent of Bride with Mom, Bride with Dad, Bride with Mom and Dad, Bride with Groom and Mom and Dad... etc. Be as detailed as possible! This will keep you from missing any pictures. I didn't do this and screwed myself over so much. I ended up not having a picture of my parents with myself and my sibling and I still haven't forgiven myself for it. Everything is so crazy and busy (even in the smallest wedding) that if it can be forgotten then it will. Give you uncle all the help you can because you know he wants to do the best job he can for you!

dont listen to all the people telling you its a mistake, If you trust your uncle enough to shoot your wedding, I think he can handle it. The best thing to do is do a search for wedding photographers online. Vist a few of there websites and see there examples. You can get some great Ideas from just looking at other peoples work. Here is a good example of a photographer that I feel is really good and has great work.

the important thing is that you trust your uncle to do his best. I couldn't afford a photographer and the person who was supposed to do it said he couldn't the day before the wedding... So it was a couple friends with cameras. It wasn't the end of the world because I love to scrapbook but was at the time not into pictures.... anyway I have some snaps to look at on the rare occasion I have time to look at wedding pix.
You can always go to the library and look at books so he will have time to practice.
Congrats & good luck.

As you said he is a great photographer he's just never done weddings that does not mean he does not have any ideas on how to shoot one!
For me the best wedding photo's are the informal one
Black & white wedding photos look great
Groom doing up his tie or his mother doing it up
Bride & groom kissing behind a tree great or sneeking a kiss somewhere
You need to talk to your uncle remind him he is a guest and you still want him to enjoy your day and any ideas he has and your ideas!
Good luck & Congrats

We all work with what's available to us. It is gracious and kind of your uncle to offer to do your wedding! I'd search theknot.com and weddingchannel.com for photographers in your area for ideas. Most won't let you cut & paste pics so see which ones you really like, the make stick figure drawings of them and show your uncle. The photojournalism style is really popular too and less stiff. Those may be more fun and natural for your uncle to take... just basically candid looking photos that show the flow and energy of your wedding. Congratulations!!!! And thank goodness for talented family members!

I'd just google/yahoo images of weddings and wedding poses. You'll find a lot of ideas that way. Good luck. Either that or do a search of wedding photographers and look at their work- most ones with websites will have samples of their work.

As much as you want to give your uncle the job; your wedding isn't the proper place have a new photographer "testing" his skills.
Hire a Professional.

~mine and my bridesmaids pictures were done outside - I had our photographer take a couple of cute pictures of my girls peeking out from behind a tree
~I've seen pictures of the groomsmen holding up the bride
