I bought a dress to wear to an evening wedding on New Year's eve. My husband is the best man and will be in a tuxedo, but I am not in the bridal party. I was worried that I would not be "in season" but I was more worried that I'd accidentally buy the same color as the bridal party and look like a wanna-be bridesmaid or pathetic. After I bought it, I got in touch with the bride and found out the bridal party will be in BLACK! Now I'm afraid I'm gonna stick out too much. I wanted to be noticed, but this might be a bit much. On the other hand, it's New Years, I don't know if I should just run with it.

Due to some unforseenable problems, I am considering on getting married earlier than planned. We have been engaged for 2 years and I am now looking at getting married to my wonderful financee' at the local courthouse. My only concern is with the Catholic Church. I've been told that the Catholic Church wouldn't consider us married. I would love to have the big Catholic church wedding that I'd been planning but the situation my family is in doesn't allow for it. All I want to know is....Is it possible for me to marry at the Courthouse and then have my marriage blessed or recognized by the Church. Thank you in advance.

I sent and email on Sat Nov 10, 2007 and I still haven't heard a resonance from you 4 days later regarding a new proposal you promised. Please understand that further delays in planing will lead us to loose our scheduled date for matrimony. The date that my fiancee and I have planed is a special date to us. And that before we could have another date that is similar wouldn't be for another 4 months. In addition we have many out of state guest that need 3-4 month advance notice to make arrangements for flight and hotel accommodation.

With the rules of the Myrtles Plantation being that we can not bring an outside venue for food choices We would like to reserve the venue for our wedding but I am afraid your slow or non response is making me nervous not only now but in the long run... Hence the reason we have not set a deposit with the Myrtles since this is a two part deal between Myrtles and Varnedoe's. We can't use one without the other.

I do understand the way this type of partnership works, it is a smart idea to corner the market when it comes to special events or customer of the Myrtles. I have no problem with that. But please just correspond with me in a timely matter. This would be greatly appreciated.

I need a break down what each item cost per dish , IE: does chicken cost more than sausage. and buy how much. Than this way we can choose weather or not we want one dish over the other. Or more or less of a certain dish.

at this time we are looking for ...we are 100 percent positive on this choice as using the Myrtles for the wedding location. . However we are feeling nervous about the role Verandoe's plays in this.

This is what we are needing a proposal on .. As I asked you prior for something 16-18 per person. I am just trying to spread our funds diligently as I am sure you are well aware weddings are a large expense.

My bf & I have been friends for 25 yrs. She has a 28 yr old daughter. I have a 28 yr old daughter & a 25 yr old son. Her daughter calls me her aunt & my kids her cousins and vice versa. Because she is my friend I have made a point of being involved in her child's life. She didn't do the same. My daughter is somewhat difficult to get close to, other friends have managed. Her daughter is getting married. I’ve helped w/ center pieces & my husband & I gave her & her fiancé a couples shower (dinner, cocktails, the works). After invitations went out I was telling my bf what my kids getting her daughter for a wedding gift. She told me my kids were not invited. She explained that they were having to cut costs & had to cross some people off the list. I didn't agree w/ it, but I wanted to be a gf and be understanding. I let it go. Then I find out they invited their hairstylist who is NOT going to be doing their hair. I'm very hurt & she doesn't understand. I was supposed to help decorated, etc. the day of. I think I’ve already done enough. Am I wrong?

But i'm unable to find answers to questions such as do I need a new marriage license? And typically which anniversary should we celebrate if we're getting remarried on a different date/month? Thanks to all who help with comments/answers!!!!

We and my man got engaged in May 2007, we set our date for July 12, 2008. Well some things came up and we decided to get married this last Sept 2007. But when we got married, it was his immediate Family, my parents and Grandmother, thats it. I told my family that I was already married, they were sorta happy for me, and then I told them we decided to have another Ceremony and Reception as planned for July so that those that were'nt there with us, could be there to witness a ceremony. My family is very old fashioned, and even though we dont talk on an everyday basis, my family is very close and would be disapointed if they didnt get to see me get married! My question is this, my Husband feels like it would be lying to our family to have a Vow Renewal Ceremony after only being married less than one year. He only wants to have a Reception, but I'm having family from out of state come to this and I know they wouldnt want to go all that way for just a Reception. Any ideas for what I can do?

My boyfriend and I cannot afford to invite strangers to our wedding. We want people to feel comfortable, but we don't traditionally invite strangers to our parties and it seems strange to have random people at such a personal event.

We have chosen to extend "and guest" invitations only to those that will not know anyone else at the wedding. Most of our other friends are all close and will cheerfully talk to one another. We will of course invite the spouses of those friends/family that are married.

Are there other possible ways of determining who gets an "and guest" invitation? Do people just blanketly allow anyone to come to their wedding? Are there other formulae for figuring this out?

IS country love songs/wedding songs a good choice?

I am getting married Oct 18, 2008 & our ceremony will be in the early afternoon, probably around 3 p.m. I have always wanted to have a fun reception with music & dancing, but do people usually only have dancing at evening weddings? Also, how does the formality of the wedding affect whether or not you have dancing?

My 19 year old son is getting married soon to his 19 year old fiance. She is still studying at College and he is in the Navy.
The reception is costing $90 a head and they are having 270 guests.
Do you think this is too extravagant?
They don't even have a home/apartment to rent or buy.

He comes home from the navy on the Friday night, gets married on the Saturday and goes back on Sunday to the Navy for a week
before they can start their lives together.

I'm concerned they are both too young.
She works two days a week as a swimming instructor on a minimum wage .

Her parents are paying for their 250 guests and my son pays for the 20 guests. I'm concerned they don't understand the value of money.
Am I worrying too much?

So after weeks of looking for the perfect dress I finally found the one of my dreams! The only problem is that I can not find a store in my area that carries it so I was thinking of ordering it online. I was just wondering if anyone has or has had this dress. What is the sizing on the dresses like? Is the dress heavy or hot to wear? Also, I'm pretty short so I'm not sure it will look good on me! Anyways heres the link and anything about the dress would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

I have come to realize upon looking at the calendar that there are a lot of days in spring (especially May) that can be a holiday. By that I mean those holidays that change date each year like Mother's Day and Memorial Day.

What I am wondering is, did you choose your date so that it would never fall on one of those holidays, so that you would always have that one special day for the two of you? Or did you not let that influence your decision?

Also, did your birthday influence your date choice? In other words, did you try to plan your wedding to be a significant amount of time away from either of your birthdays?

We seem to have alot of people asking questions about costs for things so I'm curious about how much all of you are paying (or paid) per plate for your reception.
Aside from price, what did you have (dinner, lunch, sit-down, buffet, etc), where was the reception (state or region), what day of the week, and what were the charges for tax & gratuity.
I am looking in Central PA for a Saturday and am finding lower prices around $40 per plate and looking up to $60 per plate, tax is 6% and gratuity ranges from 17% to 21%. I'm encountering same prices for 1 entree sit-down or 2 or 3 buffet options.

My best friend (we talk almost every day) is getting married next October - they recently got engaged and I know that I was one of top 3 people to get the call the next morning about their engagement. I'm a little irritated/upset/heartsick that she hasn't asked me to be a part of their wedding party. How can I ask her who is in her party?

Is she waiting to figure things out? I know her sister is her maid of honor but I thought at least I'd be part of her bridemaids since I've been one of her closest friend for over 5 years.

I am getting married in a few months and recently decided it would be fun, personal and cheaper for my mother and myself to make my cake.

so I have a few Questions:

1. what flavor/type would you reccommend?
2. when you go taste testing at shops, do they charge you? would I be able to go taste testing and then write down the flavor and research the recipes?
3. are cake decoarting classes expensive &/or worth it?
4. if you made your own cake--di you regret it and whatwould you recommend?

people answering who have personal exp would be great--thanks for the help!!!

My fiance really wants a poker game after our wedding reception (same place) and since I also play poker I figured it would be fun. But it seems like that's all he's focused on. The reception is outdoors, it's this Saturday, and I think it'll be too windy and cold. But, he has his heart set on it. I'm afraid of many things... of cards flying off into the dark, people shivering, and mostly of myself being left in a corner once I'm busted. I also think they'll end up having it at the usual place (his friends house) and my fiance will end up spending the evening playing poker than spending his wedding night with me. What do you all think? Men, would you ever do that?

I was recently married to my boyfriend of over two years....he was married once before but this is my first marriage.....I wanted a big fairy tale wedding but he talked me into waiting "until we can afford my dream wedding" and we were married at the courthouse.......but now he's saying that since he already had the extraordinary wedding with lots of flowers and doves that he doesn't want to have a show with ours...he said he wants to show me he loves me and not have a show for everyone else to believe he loves me.....i understand but since i was a child i imagined how my wedding would be.....

Should I just let it go and live on with my courthouse ceremony or tell him that I really do want a real wedding with my family watching??????..........
