The dress is gorgeous!!! I am sooo jealous ~ wish I had an event to wear something like that to. Wear it and enjoy yourself =)
You will not clash with or outshine the bride. This is a classy, fun, formal dress and can no way be confused with a bridal gown.
Even though you are not in the bridal party, your husband is best man & wearing a tux ~ so you have to look nice as well. Like you said, it's New Year's ~ run with it and have a great time =)

It's a very beautiful dress. But unfortunately I do think it is out of season. Also, if the bridal party is wearing black, you might want to see if theis is a formal wedding. If it is I think that you should go for a darker color. Possibly the same dress in grey, dark blue, or red. Also, It's the brides day, you really shouldn't be trying to upstage her. Good luck.

I guess it depends on the formality of the wedding and the couple. If you really want to be sure it won't upset the bride, show her the dress. If you know the Bride's Mom, you might even ask her.
There are ways to tone it down - use a wrap in a different color. Black, a complimentary shade of yellow, or even a blue since it's the opposite color on the color wheel. Try different hair styles with it - down maybe to make it less formal, up if the even is more formal. Keep the jewelry simple, no dangly earrings or large bracelets. Maybe flats instead of heels?

what is your escorte wearing. I think it is gorgeous. i don't dress up alot and so i would feel off in it, but i dont' like to dress up. It is gorgeous. Your husband is the best man, so that will give you an 'in'. He will be dressed up AND you can find out what the bridesmaids are wearing before hand. I think it is fine. I was thinking today about 'fitting in'. I said something really blunt the other day and am wondering if I should apologize. I decided that I was comfortable with what I said. I spoke my mind. I feel good to have what I said in the open. I think the same thing applies here. If you feel sexy. If you feel hot. If you feel comfortable dressing up.... than girl.. that is what weddings are for. I havne't been to a wedding in eons, but I have seen ladies wear their old bridemaid dresses to other weddings because they are too dressy to wear elsewhere. If you feel good in it, than wear it. If you think you will feel out of place after you check what the bridal party is wearing than dont' wear it. The main thing is that you have fun and feel good

Thats the most beautiful dress I have ever seen. Since you aren't in the bridal party, go ahead! Wear it! Everyone will be in clothes differnet then black, and the only compliments that you'll recieve'll be ones about how beautiful it is! Have fun at the party, Serra S.

That is a gorgeous dress! But I think you should go with a more subdued dress. Something more fitted. You never want to stand out as much as the bride. It's her day, and you are just a guest. I hope you will find something more suitable.
It is beautiful, though!

I don't think you'll be competing with the bridesmaids, but some may think you're trying to outshine the bride. The poufy skirt, the bow and the lace give it a bridal look. It's a gorgeous dress, but I wouldn't wear it to a wedding.

That dress is amazing.
The only thing I would worry about would be the formality of the wedding. If its a very informal wedding, it might be a bit much. But, depending on how you accessorize, that could very easily work for semi-formal or formal.

its a nice dress but too close to a white color that the bride may want to wear. I would go with a similar dress, but in a different color.
