An experience DJ will have all the answers for you. Usually they play softer music during dinner. Then once the dinner is over they will play a mix of dance/party music and slow songs.

Usually the first thing that happens at the reception is the bride and grooms first dance, then then bride with her father, then groom with his mother. All of which require specific song choices. You can also choose a special song for the cake cutting ceremony. The bridal party dance is optional, most brides skip that now a days.

You can tell your DJ which songs you want or do not want played and most take requests from you guests too. If you want country, then make sure your DJ has that and a variety for every one to enjoy!

Good luck!

Well, you can get as detailed as you want with the DJ, or band. It doesn't matter how many songs are played. Most people will have a DJ, and have a set music for the dinner, bride/groom dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, etc. Then the guests can request songs. That way people are dancing to them.

It's your wedding, so do what you want to do. Me personally, I have only a few requests for my DJ (when I get hitched), and that is songs NOT to play. Other than that, stick with my playlists for the important dances, and then let the guests pick.

Don't stress about it, have fun, and remember to take a breath every once in awhile, because the day flies by!

I would go with every song you and your loved one really like.
I personally have a big mix of music picked out like country for our first dance, 50's song for father daughter, a little bit of nice hip hop. Country songs are nice there is alot of up beat songs you can play. We have alot of music from the 70s pick out and alot of newer music. We tried to pick out songs we like and songs the guests of all ages would like too.
Play whatever you want but forsure talk to your dj about your playlist.

I think you should make an appointment with a DJ or two, they have done this a lot and can answer most of your questions. Even if you decide not to use them, they will go through the process with you and tell you about the kind of things that should be done. You can do a lot of combinations of things.
