So i've finally decided that im going to have a backyard wedding. The backyard is really nice and it actually consists of 2 part. One part with be where the ceremony takes place, and the 2nd part will be where the reception takes place. I have found a caterer, but I ws wonder (roughly) how much it really costs to have a backyard wedding. Anyone had one before? How much did you end up spending?

Well, my dear wedding people...from time to time I get tired of answering questions...so Here is a question from Kat:

What was your worst wedding story? It could be your own wedding, a wedding where you were in the bridal party, or even just a guest at someone else's wedding.

I'm looking for "Bridezilla" stories, or horrible Mother or Father of the Bride or Groom stories...maybe bad vendors, or bad behavior from guests...

What was the worst wedding moment, or worst wedding you've ever been to...and why?

I have seen a lot of couples wear matching clothes for engagement photos. Is this traditional? Do you know of anyone that matched for their engagement pictures? Was it cute, or is it just tacky?
Any ideas of proper attire for these pictures?
Thanks for your input!!

I'm getting married in November and I'm having trouble finding bridesmaid dresses. I'm afraid of picking something they can't afford, but at the same time, I suggested they pick their own dresses, just as long it's the right color, and they just looked at me funny.

Am I giving them too much work by having them choose their own dresses? They are also helping with the shower (I'm also helping them put it together) and helping me the day of the wedding. I want my bridesmaids to enjoy the experience, so what work they have to do is quite limited.
My fiance and I are at the final stages of planning and I'm starting to feel the stress!

My mother had always inivisioned a church wedding for me, her only daughter. We came to a compromise and are having the ceremony at a beautiful 19th century Gothic Revival Brownstone Chapel, but are getting married by a JP. How long do civil ceremonies average? The wedding is at 10 am, it's about a 20 minute drive to the reception, which starts at 12 pm. The woman who runs the place said if guests arrived at 11:30 and made their way in, it was fine, and everything would be ready. I don't know whether to put "Reception Immediately Following" so they don't feel obligated to stand in the parking lot until 12, but I don't want them there too terribly early either. There will be about 110 at the chapel, so by the time everyone gets out and headed to the reception, we should be safe, yes?

We are getting married June 14th, 2008. Should I send them soon? Also, should I provide a list of nearby hotels/motels for the out of towners?

My only daughter is getting married in September. She took me looking for a dress at Davids Bridal. She wants me to wear a long dress with no sleeves I really don't want to but I said if she absolutely wants me to wear it I will only buy it if I can get a jacket to go with it. I have no problem with it being long but it looks like a prom dress and I am almost 50 yrs old. I will probably will never wear it again. And I want to be comfortable that day, I love my daughter and want to make her wedding special just don't know if I should get this dress or not? What is your opinion?

I’m estimating eighty people for my wedding reception. I need to order plates but I’m not sure what the good amount to rent is.

Is there a formula people use, like half as much more?

A ratio, for every ten people there are twelve plates?

Some sort of magic number?

My fiances cousin is getting married Aug.25th at 3pm. The ceremony is being held in her backyard, with reception following at the local community center, would a baby blue BOHO skirt and a black top be appropriate?

My fiance told me Saturday that he is no longer "in-love" with me...but still loves me. I moved 2 hours away from my hometown to be with him while he was in school last year...now I have to turn around and move back and start over again. He says we lost the spark...and wants to try and work things out-he knows I still love him deeply and that I'm NOT going to give up. Any advice out there on what to do? I still love him deeply...and as weird as it sounds-we've been closer since Saturday. We still hug and kiss each other and even tell each other we love each other. We've been together 3 1/2 years, engaged over a year now. Wedding was set for October 13-everything paid for and bought-including all bridesmaids dresses and my gown. I'm so lost and confused-HELP!

Both my partner and I want a small wedding, just immediate family and maybe a few friends. The only problem is that I come from a HUGE extended family who expect to be invited to the wedding the majority of whome live interstate. From cousins past experience they don't fly over for the engagement but do come to the wedding. Would it be an acceptable substitute to invite them to the engagement party stating in invitation that if they want to celebrate this union they should come to the engagement as we only plan on a small wedding? Is this rude? Would you be offended if you got an invitation saying that? Can you think of a better way to word it?

I know for a fact that the two families would kill each other and I would rather not have to through all the planning etc. knowing that there would be drama. We are both fairly young (19&20) and can't really afford a extravagant wedding bc we are both in college. Is it wrong to just go to the courthouse and get everything done?

Opinions please

We are getting married in Las Vegas and are not "fancy" people. Our families want a reception and we don't. Do you think a pre-wedding party (the day before we leave for Vegas) with drinks, appetizers and a pool table (private room in a very classy resaurant) is a good compromise? Do you think people will be offended not to have a sit down dinner?
