So i've finally decided that im going to have a backyard wedding. The backyard is really nice and it actually consists of 2 part. One part with be where the ceremony takes place, and the 2nd part will be where the reception takes place. I have found a caterer, but I ws wonder (roughly) how much it really costs to have a backyard wedding. Anyone had one before? How much did you end up spending?

Well, I'm pretty sure it would be a lot cheaper than if you decided to have it in a cathedral....one thing about small weddings is that you get to spend quality time with the people you love (granted you don't invite a bunch of people you hate.) I don't know what numbers will look like. If I were you , i would get a whole bunch of do it yourself magazines for weddings or just some wedding mags that have some details that you would like to recreate youself for cheaper. there's nothing wrong with DIY. You don't have to pay anyone. But be sure to seek advice from someone who is qualified and well versed in the subject of weddings. Also, i would suggest that you keep it simple because it is a small place to have a wedding so you shouldn't overwhelm your guests with extravagance. good luck and congratulations.....bki

you can soo pull that off. do a morning wedding inplace of evening Lunch is cheaper than dinner! spend under 100 on the dress. and you might find a nice place to serve up some food for 2000 that leaves a bit of extra money for extra's like flowers and tux and other little things i'm forgetting my wedding was about 11,000 grand my man will say less but we spent that over the course of 2 years so we are not 100% sure how much we had 300+ people and lots of games. we did know our cater and he got us the entertainment like the dunk tank, the dessart lady, the moon bounces, I am a crafter so i made everything for the decrations .. no flowers. it was zen gardens made from boxes that my father and i made together. Dang i had one heck of a wedding. Another couple did this they ordered pizza and had a fair type wedding ordered games like baggo an toss the ring on the bottle get a ticket they had cotten candy and popcorn and al sorts of fun stuff. i'm sure they didn't spend much at all. figure 25-50 per game they had maybe 15 games and i'm sure they got a group rate for renting so much. they also had cut out boards wher eyou could put your face in it was really fun!

I am a professional mobile disc jockey who specializes in Weddings. When me and my wife got married (2001) we got married and had our reception in our living room (in front of fireplace) and dining room and we were living in a duplex at the time. While having our wedding at home was very inexpensive compared to a hall, we wish that we would have "splurged" since it's a once in a great while event. At the same time, currently we perform some weddings at the customers home, which works out pretty nice for those with a small budget. If you can fit it in some how, considering this is a very special day I would suggest a Hall personally.

There are alot of things to consider; the officiant-which can be as much as $300, tables and chairs-which depends on the fee to rent roughly $100 for 50 chairs and 10 tables, will a tent be required, is a dance "floor" needed, will there need to be decorations. All these questiond can be answered by a local rental company (besides the officiant).

Probably around $1,000. We had a band, paid them $400. A friend provided bbq as our wedding gift. We provided beer - maybe $100, and soft drinks. Decorations - $200 to $300. Borrowed tables and chairs from a church. Wedding cake was about $60,I think. Trellis we stood under was about $60 from Garden Ridge. Basically, you can spend as little or as much as you want. Have Plan B for rain!! It poured at ours!! It was fun!! Lots of umbrellas in the photos!!

omg, i was talking with my wedding planner, backyard weddings usually cost more than church and hall weddings. What people dont remember is they have to get a ton of chairs and tables , have a tent set up, a ceremony platform, have lights set up around the recpetion area, the list just goes on and on, and there are extension cords everywhere. Lyla, my planner, told me about one where they set the budget at 20,000 and ended up spending 87,000 with hidden costs.

I'm getting married on October 6th and we are having a backyard wedding. It's cheaper than having it somewhere else but it's still not "cheap" You have to rent tables, chairs, place settings, glasses, bartender, booze, food, decorations, DJ... Ours is about $3500. And that doesn't include the rings, dress, tux, hotel room for the night, hair, jewelry, and gifts for the wedding party...

Backyard weddings can be as cheap as you want them to be. I have some friends who are doing this. Everybody brings their own food also. It can be a great Pot Luck occasion. You don't even need that many chairs. Try to remember that this is YOUR day. Not the day of the people you invite. YOU and your GROOM are the only ones who should be happy..........
