My fiances cousin is getting married Aug.25th at 3pm. The ceremony is being held in her backyard, with reception following at the local community center, would a baby blue BOHO skirt and a black top be appropriate?

If it's a backyard wedding, that means it's casual dress. The skirt and top are fine. Just make sure that the top is either short-sleeved or a tank so that you don't get hot... and have a matching sweater for when the night gets chilly.

A skirt and top would be perfectly appropriate, but I'd tend to choose a color other than black. August is hot and the darker the color the more heat it absorbs, so it may get uncomfortable.

And yes, there are those of us who still feel black is more appropriate to funerals than weddings.

On the other hand, you're not planning to wear unrelieved black. If you know the bride doesn't have a problem with black at her wedding, then I'm certainly not going to stand in your way.

Boho skirt screams supermarket casual, not wedding casual.

Find a dressier skirt or a summer dress. There is no way you can dress up a boho skirt, it's just too shabby, and you know it.

Good luck

Perfect the black will play it up for night. However make sure you decide on some nice black pumps or heels No FLATS! Dress it up with some accessories (not too many) maybe a fun necklace. And some nice waves to you're hair and you're set to go.

it depends if the shirt is over the black top if not you can probably find a nice knee length dress with flair that fits you perfectly and a small handbag to go with it or a nice light coloured blouse and skirt to match

Forget the black top....Baby Blue and black is not a good cordination....try a white top or a nice summer dress

Yes, for an outdoor, informal, afternoon wedding your attire sounds appropriate (and cute).

just don't were flipflops...back yard weddings are intimate and very casual so be comfortable! if it rained the night before the ground will be wet so flipflops will get ugly...
