In my past experiences you do not need to buy the groom a special gift for the wedding. But we, the groomsman, tend to spend extra money during the bachelor party. Normally, we make sure the groom spends no money of his own that night and any gifts he gets are bachelor party related. An easy example would be if the bachelor likes golf, we'd take him golfing and everybody would pitch in for a new club.

Others here are correct, but some don't know. The groom buys the best man, and all the groomsmen, gifts. The gifts are to say thank you for being my friend, and standing up with me. Just as the bridesmaids gifts, in a big wedding the groomsmen's presents should approximate the amount of money, time, and trouble their participation in the wedding entailed. The best man also does organize the bachelor's party, and gives a toast at the reception. Those are his contributions.

It depends on how big the wedding is I would think. IF it is a small wedding based on funds then I wouldn't worry about it. If it is a huge wedding in the thousands and thousands of dollars it is custom to buy a gift. However generally speaking in alot of weddings the best man throws the bachelor party and in that event I wouldn't buy a gift because bachelors parties can be pricey depending on what is going on. There is a difference between groomsmen and a best man though. Only the best man would buy the groom a gift. All the other groomsmen wouldn't.

He can buy the groom-to-be a gag gift for the bachelor party if he wants to. My brother has been in several weddings and said the guys in the bridal party don't buy special gifts. The groom usually buys a thank you gift for the best man and groomsmen though.

No special gift is necessary other than a regular wedding gift, however the groom should give your boyfriend a special gift like a nice pen set or a beer stein.

Yes. Maybe all the groomsmen can pitch in for the gift. Maybe a hotel stay, or a gift certificate at Menards....
The groom will also get everyone in the wedding party a gift too.

The groom typically gives his groomsmen a small (yet special) gift, and the groomsmen typically give the bride and groom a larger and more special wedding gift

No.

If anything, the groom would buy the groomsman a gift.

In any case, its your wedding, not Yahoo Answers'!
