My fiance is very controlling. More or less every conversation we have is to do with some aspect of me that disappoints her or that she finds unacceptable. It didn't used to be like this. At other times she can be full of sweetness and light and then the criticism is that I'm not being very loving(as evidenced by spontaneous touching and kissing), but given the usual character assassination, I find it hard to be. I moved to a different country to be with her, but she still has no respect for my commitment to the relationship. I have tried so many times to discuss this with her and tell her how I feel, but her response is invariably that it is some kind of problem with me not hearing or understanding what she has said or not making allowances for one thing or another. I did and do love her, but I'm getting close to the end of my tether and the idea of spending years together if it's going to be like this make me want to run down the road screaming. Ideas anyone?

I'm in love but my situation is like this. I have to decide between 2 girls:

1. 'V' is the one I'm in love with. We're together since 7 months now, and she's also in love, although for her it took some more time. We've gone thru a lot together, our relationship is passionate, and at times 'V' is a bit unstable, like she would think about her ex, and how miserable her life used to be. Now she's very eager to marry me, and has told me to come to her parents asap to ask her hand 'officially'. My family/parents do not really like her character and find her a bit 'superficial', and too keen on 'beauty products', 'clothes', 'fashion', etc.

2. 'R' is a girl I've dated a couple of times. She's nice, not as beautiful and sexy as 'V', and comes from a very wealthy family. She drives cars like BMW, and is the type of girl any 'opportunist' would like to settle with. I've slept with 'R' once, and she's a bit attached to me. My family likes her and want me to marry her.

Who I shud marry then?

I'm getting married soon. Danny wants for us to move in w/ his friend and that means I would have to go to a new church and I don't want to.Anyhow Danny doesn't know it yet but I'm holding back my wedding plans now b/c of 2 things. 1 They say divorces run in families and if that's the case, Divorces ran to the finish line in mine.I'm trying to protect myself from getting hurt b/c Mama, sister and my cousin have been through divorces. What's going to say that one day Danny won't decide he doesn't want to be married to me anymore and leave me? How am I going to know he won't leave me? The 2nd reason I'm holding back my plans is b/c I have a crush on Ricky and if I could talk to him in his office I could tell him but I won't say it's him I have a crush on. I'll just describe him and see if he can figure it out.I want to know what you think abt this please.

I have been searching for information on this for a while now and I just can't find the right facts. What I am trying to find out is: what are the vows like (example if possible), attire, reception (if there is one), symbol of love (trading of rings if so what hand). I have looked at tons of sites on "dutch wedding traditions" and they all say the same thing...couple sits on throne and the guest come up and wish them the best etc. What are modern touches that happen. Is it like the American wedding; groom waits in the front, bride in white, walks down with the father, instrumental procession? Please be as specific as possible. Thanks to anybody that answers.

If you have had a catholic Dutch wedding just summarize what happened at your wedding; if you don't mind. thanks

We have all the other music, but are having trouble coming up with a good bit of music for the recessional. There's a few things: We're having a live pianist and violinst, so it has to be played by those instruments (ie- no trumpets); and it's in a church, where it has to be either gospel or classical. Any thoughts?

My daughters were flowergirls recently at a wedding and I thought it was customary for the bride to give them a small gift. I know I did when I was married. I know the bridesmaids all were given a bracelet. I did not mention it to the kids, so luckily they were not expecting it anyway. I just thought it was the done thing. Dont people do this anymore?
And is it usual for flowergirls to sit at bridal table or are they usually stuck up the back behind everyone so nobody can see them? They were not even taken away for the photos. One cant help but wonder why they even had flowergirls. They did not get ready or arrive with the bride, I did their hair, dressed them and delivered them to the venue. Someone came and got them when the bride was ready for them. It just all seems weird to me.

I know this is alot to ask, but I want to use this excerpt of Plato’s synopsis translated into Italian for my wedding invitation and program. Any help would be graciously appreciated:

We pass our whole lives together, desiring that we should be melted into one, to spend our lives as one person instead of two, and so that after our death there will be one departed soul instead of two; this is the very expression of our ancient need. And the reason is that human nature was originally one and we were a whole, and the desire and pursuit of the whole is called Love.

The theme is gothic, a sort of 'loving dead' type theme, with a style skewed towards the victorian side.

I am trying to think of a good a good song, but the wedding march is out of the question and the funeral dirge (which it IS similar too) is too cheesy.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Whatever happened to people having their weddings in churches? Im not super religious or anything...in fact Im planning on having my wedding in a Unitarian Church because they are very liberal, and encourage spirituality instead of harping on religious dogma, but I still feel like a church is the appropriate place for a wedding! Everyone these days seems to want to have it in a random hall, separate room, or gazebo outside some where.

What are your thoughts on the issue?

-I realize that it can save money to have it elsewhere some times, but isnt the ceremony the most important part? i.e. something that you should be willing to spend money on if youre going to shell out thousands on a reception?

I am 26 and was involved with a 34 year old man from Italy in a long-distance relationship. We met about two years ago and last summer began our relationship. We had been good friends up to that point and his mother and I have always been close (she introduced us).
I went to see him for New Year's and he proposed marriage. I was thrilled, believe me. Well, he gave me a ring and when I got back to the US, the stone fell out twice. He told me he spent 300 Euros on it; naturally, I was hysterical.
When I got to the jeweler, they refused to repair it. Why? Because it was only worth $20. I called him to tell him I knew the truth but the phone line cut. This was Feb. 8 and we have not spoken since-- he won't answer the phone.
I have spoken to his mom several times, even today. She said he said he thought I thought all he wanted me for was US citizenship-- NOT true. He also thought I got it appraised on purpose-- NOT true. She says "if they are flowers, they'll bloom." What do you think?

My finace and I are paying for the whole wedding on our own and don't feel we should have to incur the cost of a cocktail hour as well. How can we inform guests that attend the cocktail hour they are responsible for their own beverages?

We are not particularily religious and we'd like to have a non-traditional wedding this fall. We were hoping to have a small, intimate wedding ceremony attended by only the immediate family FOLLOWED by a larger reception (cocktails/dancing) attended by all. We were wondering if the reception guests would feel offended by not witnessing the actual nuptuals?
