This is a great website that allows you to search No Cal wedding by size of wedding, venue type and area.

But some other options that I have come across are...
The Palace of Fine Arts, SF (rents for $150 an hour can hold hundreds)
The Memory Gardens, Monterey (rents for $100 and hour holds up to 300 this is where i am having my wedding)
Wineries is sonoma area are great (napa has restrictions on receptions and weddings in their town)

Well I guess that depends on how north you want to go. Trinidad in Humboldt County is a lovely little beach community about 40 min north of Eureka. They have a lovely state beach and there are a few restaurants around in town, as well many more down in Eureka. This area is know for it's "Indian Summer" so the weather will be warm and mild in September. And to the above posters the SF Bay Area =/= Northern California.

Depends what you mean by "northern" - anywhere around the Bay, or strictly north of the bay?
Stanford Memorial Church in Palo Alto is gorgeous, but you have to know someone who is a student or employee of the university. Monterey Bay is breath-taking. There's a private location in the Santa Cruz mountains called Nestledown or Nesteldown that is very charming. Or try any of the wineries in Sonoma or Napa.

Don't what your budget is like, but if it's a really large wedding (200+ guests) and you have money to spend, what about a vineyard in Napa or at a private estate? You can also do the usual hotels and conference centers, but I'll assume you've already gone through those. :)

What about a vineyard? I'm sure plenty of guides have locations available for rent and good wine would be a great addition :-)
