I am planning on having a maid of honor and a matron of honor and I would like him to have two best men, also. He is fine with this but we are not sure what to call the 2nd best man??? Is there a name that we can put on the programs like the girls different names???

My husband also had 2 best men, we called them 'co-best man,' but on the program just had both names listed under 'Best Man.' It's not a stupid idea, sometimes it's hard to choose between 2 people you feel extremely close to but in different ways.

Nope, just put Best Man and Best Man. The only reason you aren't having to Maid of Honors is because one is married so thats why you get to change the title to Matron.

There is only one major honourary position each. You can have either a Maid of Honour (unmarried) OR Matron of Honour (married). There are not two positions, just an option in the name difference for marital status. Any other attendants are bridesmaids.
For the Groom, he has one Best Man, the others are groomsmen.

I would just call both of them Best Man. I went to a wedding several years ago. It was a second marriage for both. She had one attendant, and he had 7 best men! He said they had all been best friends for years, and he could never choose just one to stand up with him! It was not a very formal wedding.

That's hilarious.. he's 2nd best.. you could call him Avis..he tries harder? Yikes that really does age me...

The trouble with 'best' is that we usually think of it as a superlative so there can only be one.. but in this case you can't rank his attendants good, better, and best :)

For a wedding though it's just a title for an honoured male attendant so I think you could get away with having a pair of 'best' men :)

They are both best men. My FI is having both of his brothers, they are both best men the rest are groomsmen. I have one maid of honor so she will be escorted back down the isle by both of the guys. No big deal.

There is no such thing as a 2nd best man. I guess you could call them best men. It's really a dumb idea.
