Steven Curtis Chapman - I Will Be Here
Allison Krauss - When You Say Nothing At All
Sevenglory - Waiting for You
Steven Curtis Chapman - Parent's Prayer

Parent's Prayer is AMAZING for a parent, if they can "keep it together" if you know what I mean. Best of luck to you and your son!

From Me To You - The Beatles
Through The Years - Kenny Rogers
I Wish You Love - Gloria Lynne
Have I Told You Lately - Van Morrison or Rod Stewart
Unforgettable - Nat King Cole
You Are The Sunshine of My Life - Stevie Wonder
Can You Feel The Love Tonight - from Lion King
Whenever I See Your Smiling Face - Jamse Taylor
You'll Be In My Heart - Phil Collins (movie Tarzan)

I don't know what kind of voice you have or if you were looking to sing a ballad or uptempo, so these are the best I can do :-) Good luck!

The only one I can think of is "Consider yourself well in, consider yourself one of the family" from the musical Oliver.

"Consider yourself at home.
Consider yourself one of the family.
We've taken to you so strong,
It's clear we're going to get along.
Consider yourself well in.
Consider yourself part of the furniture.
There isn't a lot to spare.
Who cares? Whatever we got we share!"

That's not a good idea. Unless you're a famous singer that we have heard of you shouldn't do this. Save the songs for a more private affair.
