When a woman asks a man for his hand in marriage, is there an appropriate engagement present for the man from the woman?

My ex just caught up on back child support. She is not working right now, so I am wondering if she has some sort of ulterior motive, but I cannot figure out what that would be. Any suggestions would be helpful.

My sibling and I were separated as children since we were adopted by different parents. We found each online and fell quickly in love with each other. We had so much in common.

However, after being married, we discovered recently that we were in fact siblings.

Has anyone experienced this? How do you cope? Do you divorce or work it out? We have children together. How do you get past this?

Everytime I go to friends or on "answers" feeling like I'm accepting something in my relationship that feels like abuse, or bad treatment in general and looking for empowered solutions , why do I always ge thte response that's like... "oh, well...that's how men are." or "My husband alwyas does that..and I don't mind?" or some explaination that basically says. "I'm only technically in a "realtionship" I do everything independantly of my husband, and therefore I'm not vulneralbe to his insensitivities.? What is WITH THAT!!?? Aren't there any women out there whov'e learned how to wrangle the ill-behaved husband and at least get him to understand how to truly share the responsibilities of a real relationship? why do they get to have their cake and eat it too so often?

I believe in establishing a solid relationship before you move on to sex. I don't believe in premarital sex, really. But I also believe that compatibility in sex is essential for preserving your marriage. So, those men who waited for marriage to have sex-- were you able to strengthen the sextual aspect of your relationship during the course of your marriage? Have there been hick ups (such as lusting after someone else) and what did you do?

I have physical custody of my kids recently. My ex gave me physical custody of the kids with joint custody.I filed for a protection order against my ex wife cause her partner physically abused them and she did nothing about it ever theres police records from when my daughter went to school brused when she had custody of them. Now that its almost tax time she said she is going to get the kids back because I will not let her put the kids on her tax return. She doesnt give me child support cause I have never asked for it. But after I got the restraining order on her she asked for a court hearing I am not sure if the hearing will be to get the protection order off or to get the kids back on her custody (physical). Does anyone have any advice??? Do you think I should really hire an attorney?? And do you think its possible for her to get the kids back????

Just a note. I will call a lawyer, I'm just asking to see if anyone has gone through this, or if they know before I call.

If I file for divorce (Rhode Island) and my husband is unemployed, I am part time employed, will the courts still grant me some sort of child support. He quit is job in September, and hasn't found another one yet. Told me last night he wants a divorce.
any comments?

Well my husand and I have being married almost 3yrs and we both have good jobs, we both work for the government. However, his ex wife who has a daughter with doesn't even have H.S diploma, is very hard to reason with her she is too much drama alwasy asking for money. After a while we agreed is best not to talk to her unless is about the child. She calls my husband today telling us that she is getting her GED and will be getting her RN in less than a year we my husband told her that please don't call us unless is about the kid. Why is she calling us when is not about the kid are all baby's mom crazy or what why can she leave us a lone for a change and get a life.

I have trouble getting my husband to own up to his financial irresponsibility. My name isn't on the bank account he uses to deposit his weekly check so I am powerless to control it iin anyway, unless he leaves me an atm card. Over the weekend he clains to have lost 30 or so dollars, and seems to have drawn more than $80 out of the account for his "football weekend" (gas, food, drinks) While I spent the entire weekend taking care of our 1 year old alone. I get chastised for taking forty dollars out. He showers first when we both need a shower, and just really prioritises himself over us in weird ways. What can I do to get on a more even playing ground with him? How can I get him to take Putting me on the bank account more seriously?

I have been married almost 3 years now. When my wife gets mad, she tries to fight me. She throws things and hits me in the face. The first three times, I just restrained her. The past two times, I hit her back (not with fists ) but with open handed. Last night she busted my nose and threw a radio at me. As a result, my nose was bleeding and my arm has a huge bruise on it. The catch is that she is now almost 5 months pregnant. What do I do? I love her and I want to do whats best for the child but Im not going to sit there and be hit on. I dont believe in hitting a woman so why are women allowed to hit men?

Together for 5 years, engaged 6 months, then broke up. There is no chance of reconciliation. Although I was the one who made it clear we werent working, the break-up was mutual and he's the one who ultimately approached me about leaving. I have the ring and he hasnt asked for it back or even mentioned it; but I think that's because he assumes I will keep it forever as a momento or something. We have a child together and are still attempting to be friends, so I dont think telling him I sold the ring would help keep us civil - however - I really need the money. And I dont need the ring.

Do you think it would be wrong of me to sell it, and if not, what do you think is the proper time period to wait to do such? And should I tell him straight out? I'm conflicted.

I hear so many people talk about "if the trust is gone, then there is no love". Problem is love and trust don't don't tie into each other so is the new "love" actually trust? Think about this before you answer because I never hear someone say , "I'm staying with this person because I trust him", they say they love them, that's why they stay and work things out! I know both do play a role in a relationship, but I'm tired of hearing people talk about if there's no trust, theres nothing (which is not true). Society's easy button from staples I guess. Oh, and I am not a victim of this at all...

I have never had doubts that my husband could be or has been cheating on me, until now. My husband is very nice and romantic and i know he loves me very much. He has never been late from work unless he has to but for this he calls me to ask me if it's ok for him to stay or not. If i say no he just comes home. So the other day he called me to stay, so i said it was fine for him to stay for a few extra hours. So he calls later and he says that he is driving on the street already he just got off the freeway. Twenty minutes pass and he still is not home so i call him and he says "I just got off the freeway", so i thought that was really weird. When he gets home his tie is off and his shirt is untooked, something that was weird because he always comes home looking just like he leaves. Bottom line i notice something that looked like a hickey on this neck i ask him he denies it, i call his job and they say he got off 3 hours early than what he said. What do i believe?

My man's in the process of getting divorced, has been separated for many months already. Ex wife & kids live in another city, 1.5-2 hours away from where we live. The b!tchy ex wife says she doesn't care about him anymore YET she continously threatens & blackmails him w/the kids, saying he doesn't care about them cuz he doesn't visit them anymore. He does, but now he arrives there by noon, stays with them all day long and comes back in the evening (never sleeps over). This is every 2 weeks. She finally made him feel guilty enough - also using the fact that his 6 yr old son is having rage episodes because of the father's absence - and he wants to spend "a couple of days" w/the kids AT THEIR HOUSE (i.e. with the ***** there too). I'm totally against the idea and he has complained that I'm too intolerant and don't support him, that he can't turn his back on his children (which I've never asked for) etc... I've never been an obstacle for him to see his kids, he can see them (continued...)

My wife comes home last night and starts argueing with me about various things. Mostly about her feeling overwhelmed with the baby and that I dont help enough or give her enough attention. Heres the situation, she is a stay at home mom and she goes to school in the evenings. I work six days a week to pay for the bills which includes her school and her car. I take care of my son at night while she is in school. So to get to the point should I be mad or does she really have a point. My blood was boiling but i just bit my tongue and said nothing.
