Depends on the situation. Many people move on quickly after their spouse dies especially if it was a sudden death. The living spouse tends to want to fill the void quickly b/c the pain and loneliness is so great. But to have the new individual wearing the deceased spouses clothing is very unhealthy and a little twisted.

That sounds creepy I think if my spouse passed I would get rid of all their clothes just for the purpose of not having more memories around. How can you truly get over and move on if you keep momentos of the person that has passed away. I think if a year has passed the stuff should be packed up and given away or destroyed. If your starting to date again I think this would be a must.

I agree with the 1st answerer..... it all depends on the kind of relationship you had with the spouse, how long you were married, how the decease happened. Everyone has their own mourning process and losing your loved one doesn't mean that you can never love anyone else. Maybe 1 yr would be a bit too soon for me, but that's just me. If you do feel like you love this new person, good for you..... if you're not suffering for your loss anymore, great. But yeah, the clothes thing does bother me some..... I wouldn't do that, out of respect for both my deceased spouse and my new partner.

Would you answer my question?

If I wanted to find another mate a year after my husband died, I would start by getting back into the social scene. NO MAN would move in with me; NO MAN would wear my husband's clothes;NO MAN would hear me say I loved them after two months. Somebody is way too needy and making a lot of poor choices.

I would not be able to move on for a long long long time. I don't know if I could ever marry someone again, as he's my soulmate. I'd probably be dating after a year though, as I would be very lonely.

So I could see how someone might want to fill the void of loneliness by quickly finding someone new to love. Wearing their clothes is a little creepy though... I guess why not if no one else is using them.

My aunt died a year ago in September, and my uncle proposed to his now girl friend this July, and they are living together. Same with my step dad, his idiot ex wife wormed her way back into his life just a couple months after my mom died. Some people just cant be alone.

Everyone shows grief in a different way and this may just be the way this person deals with things. There are no clear cut guidelines for when it's okay to start dating again.
