I don't see why there is anything wrong with a woman to ask a man to get married. And it doesn't mean that he is a sissy either. I asked my husband to marry me and it is one of my fondest memories. We were laying in bed absently discussing things we wanted to do, where we wanted to be in 10 years, stuff like that. The subject turned to marriage, and I just asked him to marry me. We aren't the most conventional couple, and it was perfect. I could not imagine a better perposal senario. It was a moment when we were both very happy and very in love. He said yes, and 6 months later we were married. He is far from a little girly man and the last thing I would ever be called is butch. We picked out our wedding bands and planned the entire wedding together. His words were that any man who doesn't care enough about what is supposed to be the most importand day of his life to have a hand in planning it, doesn't really want to be married anyway. He is a wonderful husband, a wonderful friend, and a wonderful father. I wouldn't change a thing.

Since alot of men this day and age are commitment phobic.
Some women have taken the call to propose to the man.
If it has been a number of years I could see this a few months
I would not even bother asking you may look desperate. I think a nice ring would be good or maybe something he has wanted say like a PS3 or an XBOX360 say honey will you marry me and hand him the new game console. If I was a guy I would be like hell yes I will to marry a women that cares enough to buy you what you desire thats a keeper.

I do not believe this is an appropriate question, but am old fashion...so given that, I believe that if a female asks a man to marry, then the appropriate way, and gift is an engagement ring for him. I hope you are not offended when he declines, and runs for the hills!

Not particularly. Some women are cleaver and buy themselves an engagement ring to give to him to give to her. Others buy a general piece of jewelry for him. It all depends on what you are comfortable with and your personality.

I know a couple who got married after the woman proposed. EVERYTIME they got in a fight, he always said: "Hey, I didn't ask you to marry me."

Is this a real man or a metrosexual pansy? Not to be rude but seriously, I just cant imagine a scenerio with the woman being the one proposing. Will he take your name too? Is he wearing the dress?
