I have a BIL 22 years old, and SIL 32 years old, that still live with their parents. My wife (their older sister) and I have put in new tile, installed cable, etc. mainly for my mother in law and not them, although they benefit also. Not only do they not help in any way, either financially or physically helping me install the tile or cable, or say thanks, but only make critical comments about how the things could have been done in a better way. I asked them one time if they wanted to help me and if not then I didn't need any of their comments. Didn't work. How should I respond to people like this, if at all ?

I am 17 and a half years old and I was held back a year in second grade. Not my fault MPS failed me and my Mom would have to agree with me. So I'm a junior in HS

But right now I have the left one done and I wanna get my right one done because I'm the kinda guy in the middle of liking one now you see it now ya don't and two because it happens to look more balenced and I'm not afraid of looking like a girl if some people say you look like a girl. But people at my school are very accepting and really like it a lot especially the chicks.

But I wanna get another one but this time in my right ear. cuz gots one in the left. Don't do that left right gay thing though.

So my Moms fine but my Dad ain't cuz he's so old fashioned. and sticks by his rule book you said you wanted one but I said contracts extend and new ones are created but still ain't bending.

What do I do? Please help? Should I just pierce it myself or have a friend pierce it for me. It's now or later.

Me and my friends are planning to form a band but my parents won't let me join them because I am the only girl in the band. They are that strict. Their point is that it doesn't look good seeing a girl surrounded by boys. They always make me stay away from boys. I am an only child.

Being the vocalist of a band is one of my biggest dreams. Any idea on how I can convince them?

What are some lies your parents told you as a child?

So, my mother-in-law lives on an island 4 hours away from our city. She has a flat in our city too, which actually belongs to my husband, but of course he or I would never ask to get it, it's hers as long as she lives. She comes to the flat 2-3 times a year, for a month each time. Now she just left, and she will be back in 4-5 months. I had promised a friend to cat-sit for her 2 cats for the holidays, and we thought it would be best to keep them in my mother-in-law's flat, because they would fight with our cats. My mother in law found out. I would understand to get mad and complain that we didn't tell her, but what she did instead was call mu husband crying, almost unable to speak, and say that "we can have the house", "she can rent a one-room bouse for when she comes over", that "she couldn't sleep for 2 nights ever since she found out", that she got sick, etc.

I hate basketball so much. I hate it with a passion. I hate it so much I'd rather endure 2 hours of torture than go to practice.

It's not that I'm bad at it, it's just that I hate it SO MUCH. My parents made me sign up for it and I've resisted and complained every step of the way. I just think it's the worst, most boring sport that ever existed. AND I HATE IT.

How do I convince my parents that I WANT and NEED to quit?!

My husbands sis and husbands bro's wife have started picking on me again. Both have a history of making me look like the enemy, my husband's brothers wife is a real drama queen, she just starts crying and expects sympathy from everyone. I dont know why they do it, but for some reason they find any excuse to start conflict with me, it could even be something as petty as "you said a size 10 won't fit, so you think I'm that large!", or my husband's sis would go out of her ways to make me feel jealous, which I find really childish. Either way what I've noticed is that once a problem does start it ends up with everyone e.g my husbands brothers acting distant from me for a while which is what my sister in laws desire, I feel they want everyone in the family to think bad of me. I am a phd student and also a television model, my work has suffered as a result. My husbands brothers wife is a housewife so she has got all the time in the world to gossip.

My family consists of me (I'm 21), my 13yo best friend (Jea), my 1yo daughter (N) and J's unborn daughter (Jea is pregnant in 9th month). This is not the usual type of family but the best for us. Jea and I run the family. We're both intelligent and responsible and we solve problems together. When N grows up a little she would be treated as equal, we won't play God-slave games (like most parents do with their children). Jea is just as responsible for the family as me.
How about your families? Do you have unusual type of family?

Its been the same story for years. my parents don't get along. my mom constantly wants to divorce my father because he is emotionally abrasive and hates her family for no real good reason. they are always fighting..my siblings are married and live in their town, but i am away at college. I really can't stand to come home to these problems..i listen to them talk trash about each other, but honestly the stress gets to me..and most of the time i can't wait to get back to my college city and my apt.

ive been home for about a week and half but its felt like months. i cant wait to get back on the 2nd so i can pay my rent and start school the 6th, but my dad makes faces at me that im leaving earlier than the school start date...i need a vacation too! i want to see my fiancee! i have a life too. they seem to think that i have no life because im a student.

they wake me up early , open my door to let the light in. they don't understand my clock is off from finals! i need rest!

My mother has got herself an internet boyfriend from America (We're from Australia). This has been going on for some months now. Mum is constantly on the net at home, stays up all night and gets up at 4am to talk to him. It's really starting to interfer with her work now too. She also plans on selling the house and leaving Dad and my younger sisters with nowhere to go, so she can go to America to be with him. She doesn't believe that she is doing anything wrong and believes she is being mature about it all. She believes she is in love with this man and that it's the happiest she has been in a long time, even though she will snap at anything. The whole situation is quite frustrating.

Any advice on how I can talk some sense into her? Thanks in advance.

Ok... My parents have a huge house and I live in it now.. but the thing is .. I don't care. I don't care where I live. When I was in the military, I stayed in a crappy trailer home comfortably with no a/c or heat.

I'm sick and tired of people praising me because my parents have a big house. when someone comments about it.. what do I say??? My parents maybe wealthy but I'm poor and people think I'm rich because of the house.

My dad makes annoying jokes which are not funny at all, sorta like the kind of jokes a 6 year old would make, to me and my sister (we are 12 and 8). It gets me so p*ssed off when a friend comes over and he starts cracking these types of jokes. How can I (nicely) tell him to stop?

I got back from my first semester at college earlier this month and my mother had noticed that I put on some weight- about ten pounds. It really doesn't bother me, since I still fit in all of my clothes and don't think of 120 as overweight at all. Still, it really seems to bother her. She's always noting that I look like I've gained weight and whenever I eat she points out what's not healthy about it. It's not like she's calling me fat- but it's really bothering me.
Once she realized that telling me that I've gained weight hasn't caused me to change my eating habbits, she's gone as far as to get rid of all the snack food in the house and only allow me one meal a day.
How can I tell her that she's acting crazy without making her upset? Do you think she's out of line as well, or is it just me? I know that I only have to deal with her a few more weeks, but it's really bothering me.

The last time I heard from my father I was around 13 years old. I am now 49 years old. I am the oldest of 4 girls. I am married and live almost 150 miles from where I grew up. My father abused my mother badly. He kicked her in the stomach when she was 9 months pregnant with my youngest sister. He tried to hang me from the rafters in our basement at age 9. My father left when I was 10. The last time I saw him is when I was 13 at the church I grew up. My aunt of my father's side sent flowers when my mother died in 1989. My 2 sisters and I are close. I wouldn't even know what he would look like. My family and I lived a normal happy life after the divorce. I would like to go on with my life and forget the horrible abuse. Why would someone contact his daughters after so long? I have forgiven him for the abuse. My second sister is in a abusive situation and we lost contact with her. She reunited with my father in the 1990's. Is there a reason why he is trying to contact us?

So I have the chance to go to Africa to help out an orphanage and go on a safari for 2 weeks with a well-known service group. The thing is I am 16 years old, and my mom is uneasy and basically telling me I can't go because she is the biggest worrier you will ever come across. This is something I am incredibly passionate and serious about but she doesn't believe me! I want to go more than anything in the world, and I am a responsible young adult. Any suggestions on convincing her that the world is not out to get me and rest assured there will be no civil war?!?

My dad was supposed to watch my uncles two children, but he has to work third shift so I offered to fill in for him and I won't get paid. The kids are both boys; ages 2 1/2 and almost 5. I will be watching them at my aunt and uncles house for almost 6 hours. The thing is, both children are very active and need constant attention. I am afraid that I might not be able to give them the attention they both need since they both can walk. Does that make any sense? I would hate for something to go wrong after having these feelings knowing I didn't think I could handle it.

I'm almost 15 and have taken multiple courses for childcare. Does it sound like a reasonable request to ask my uncle & aunt if I could bring a trusted friend, whom they can approve, to help me? How do I ask without them getting the feeling that I have no clue what I am doing?

Friends of my parents live about 10 blocks from us. Since they are away most of the time at their other house, they said my and my two sisters can use the pool in their backyard.

The problem is, since they are not home, their house is locked. This means we can't get to the bathroom when we need to pee. It's too far and too cold to run all the way back to our house.

Could we pee in the yard somewhere (it is fenced for good privacy) or even in the pool?
