I have been paying for years, and it is tough, there is a lot of us struggling dads out there, pulling a D.L. would not help anyone, you have to get to work, see the kids get groceries etc. I think there would be a lot less dead beat dads if courts were more fair. Like my divorce and many more I have seen the courts do not care what happened unless there is drugs or abuse involved, you go to court the mom gets custody, the dad pays at least half what he makes and nobody cares if the dad can even survive, and lets face it is a tough world out there and without money it is hard to get on with your life. Plus when mom has the kids she is able to go do fun things like amusement parks and buy cool stuff, with dads they get the every other weekend, and it is McDonald's and rent a video.

You may be trying your best, but not all fathers are.
I have a friend who has a 15 yr old son, and his father has NEVER helped support him. He doesn't call him, write to him or anything. He is just as loser who doesn't deserve to even be called dad.
And there are many others just like him. And here they wont take a mans drivers licenses unless he is making no effort at all, and is thousands of dollars behind. So really, what other option is there, if throwing them in jail for 30 days doesn't work, garnishing their wages doesn't work, because they just get another job or one paying cash so friend of the court doesn't know. What options are left after all of that, I guess the next thing at least here is felony charges. I have no sympathy for men like that. Of course they are not all like that, but many are. And it isn't fair to the child, and the child is who matters the most in all of this.
And if your ex is a drug addict, then why are you not doing every thing you can to have the child taken from her, and you have full custody.

I'm a mom and never blew money on coke...

In fact, i paid child support for several years.

I also was threatened with having my driver's license suspended because i was not paying child support due to an almost fatal auto accident... but child support expected me to work while i was in the hospital for six months?

it all gets nuts and crazy... i think that the best thing you can do is take care of YOU.. keep in contact with the child support caseworker about your situation, and do your best.

sorry about the coke thing. if she is an addict, what is she doing raising a child? maybe you could insist upon a psychological evauation and try to get custody yourself?

i dont' know ,, but whatever happens i hope it works out.

Well Six, I know what your going thru as I did the same thing, paying CS for 16 yrs. I went thru lay-offs that , split in two amounted to 5 1/2 yrs.My ex( #%$&^#%&) bought cars, took vacations, remarried a D---kh--d, who blew CS pymts on the ponies, beer, etc, etc as well as her."(So you can only imagine what will happen if Hillary gets elected)". Yrs ago it was a county issue, then a state issue ( along about the early part of this century, '03-'04) Now it's a Federal issue. They (county) never have demanded , only asked for an accounting of where the money went. I started paying in Sept of '76' first with Money orders then started paying thru the court sys. In 1987 after remarrying (the ex got jealous of my new love) she went to court to get the CS raised, and with it CS she claimed I never pd from Sept. 76 - Feb, '77'. Guess what, I knew the #%*&&%#* would try something like this so I kept every receipt, from Sept 1, 1976 to Aug. of '87' . And guess what? (he, he,) she was charged with falsification of a sworn affidavit and fined $500, and 3 days in jail, ( dropped in favor of 6 mo. probation and 80 hrs community service) for being the lying B---tch she was( Ha Ha Ha) . Then in 1991 when my daughter was almost 16, she came to live with me after a change of Custody hearing where the lying #&%^$#* was called "onThe Carpet Again" in front of a Magistrate, again my papers were all in order and she was what she was, a lying B--tch!!!! Then she had to pay CS, She calls and says to me" How am I to support my other kids and feed them and keep a roof over their head paying you CS? I told her " Don't Make No Dang Differance to Me, Long as I Get My Money"!!Got her charged with a "Contempt of Court Order for non pymnt" ( Ha Ha Ha He). When my daughter graduated from highschool I told her " OK,NOW TODAY, I NEVER HAVE TO SPEAK TO YOU AGAIN B--TCH"!!!! That was 14 yrs ago. So Brother, I feel your pain, and like someone told me" All things that go around and bite you in the a-- comes around to bite the B--tch in the A--"!!!!

no i don't think it is a good idea to pull the drivers license from someone as a way of getting money from them. It's a way to make less money come, thats for sure.
