My family consists of me (I'm 21), my 13yo best friend (Jea), my 1yo daughter (N) and J's unborn daughter (Jea is pregnant in 9th month). This is not the usual type of family but the best for us. Jea and I run the family. We're both intelligent and responsible and we solve problems together. When N grows up a little she would be treated as equal, we won't play God-slave games (like most parents do with their children). Jea is just as responsible for the family as me.
How about your families? Do you have unusual type of family?

Your family is a little unorthodox, but I like the way you say everyone will be treated as equals. I wish more people would understand what you are saying.

My family is sort of non-descript...it consists of only me.

I don't understand this "God-slave" thing at all that you feel most families play.

This girl that is pregnant is only 13? Wow, that is really sad. And you are 21 with a 1 year old? I think maybe you both need some counseling on how to better care for yourselves; birth control, respect of self, etc.

My family is more traditional, but that does not mean we are perfect by any means.

You have a 13yr old best friend who is 9months pregnant? But yet you are both intelligent and responsible? How responsible is it for a 13yr old to be pregnant, she's a child herself. How responsible is it for a 21yr old to think this is ok? How responsible is it for a 21yr old adult to believe that a pregnant child who is years away from being able to work, who is uneducated and cannot support herself or the child she is carrying is "just as responsible for the family as you are".

I am hoping this is some fantasy story you are writing in your free time during the holiday break. God help your children if it isn't.

My family is very unusual. For some reason, most of the men in my family run away =(. My dad left us when i was 6, my grandad on my dads side moved away to south Africa, my cousins dad left her, and i saw my great grandad about 3 times when i was little, and i never saw him again, before he died this may, and my gran and grandad on my mums side don't really get on. But apart from that it's usual, cos i have my brother mum, gran aunt, cousins and stuff =)

I think or believe most families are a little dysfunctional - haven't you ever watched Everybody Loves Raymond? We are all normal with quirks & whose to tell you that what works for one will work for all? So take care of your family the best way you can, and continue being a family.

In my opinion ALL families are unusual. What is there to compare it to? Ask anyone about their family and you might hear a sugar coated story on top....then they will start telling you some of their stories growing up. And then you will see that we all have messed up families in one way or another. There is no perfect family!
