my daughter has been married to an italian boy for four years now. she had two children and he has one [who he has custodity of] . his family only sends presents to his daughter and ignores my daughters children.yesterday she got another package for the step daughter. we have always treated all the children like our own. infact grandpa spends more time with destiny [step child] than her father does. they grandpa[snow] and destiny have a garden together, they go fishing he reads her books to her she reads to him. needless to say we are fair . but yesterday i called his parents and told them this is unfair and family does not do this. he went through the roof.and said it wasn't my place. after 4 yrs. and not getting involved in herpersonal life except to listen . i have had it . does a grandma have this right ? do i owe my son in law an apology?

An online friend who's 24, a single mom (one child) and living with her parents desperately needs to get out. The fights with her parents have gotten physical. She says her mom constantly yells at her about how worthless she is. She's shown me pics of her bruises. She lives in a remote area, has no car and her parents won't loan her money to leave, saying it's her responsibility. I'd like to give her a plan to get her out of there, but everything I've suggested she's rejected or says won't happen (says she's not eligible for public assistance). Short of calling the police myself (which she doesn't want me to do because she's afraid she'll lose custody of her son), I'm totally lost. (I can't loan her money.) She tried to swallow a small amount of sleeping pills last night. Fortunately, she threw them up. Any ideas on what options she has open to her?

I want something special this year because I gave him so many tshirts, slippers, cd-s, perfumes, car accesories, etc.
Although he will be 70, he is a very active person, he runs his own business, spending most of the time in the car, travelling. That's why he dosen't get much spare time.
He will organize a huge party and somebody suggested that we should hire a belly dancer :))
Any other interesting ideas?
Thanks a lot!

Is it a beverage? For me it's tea, but it once was Dr Pepper. I know we have a lot of coffee drinkers out there. Or is it something else? What helps you get your day off to a good start?

My dad who's not divorced nor separated from my mother works abroad. And he visits once a year where he would stay for a month. We used to travel and see him on vacations for 6 years (2-3 times a year) but that faded down to none because he said he can't afford it anymore(97 was our last trip). After resigning from his old company and started with a new one(2000) my dad claims that the new company is broke and can't afford paying salaries every months(sometimes he would go for 4 months without sending any income to my mom),and if he sends any,it is barely enough to pay for pile of debt of the past few months. He claims he switched 4 companies since.Yet same old story,no paychecks yet.I did some fact-check and found out he is still working with the same company for 6 years, and that his last claim last month that he had a hugh car accident that cost him money and prevented him from sending my mom any was all a lie, and much more lies.Confront him,or show mercy on a 60 old man living way.

I have lived with this child for over 5 years and she has caused more trouble in my family than I have ever seen a child do. She has gotten into drugs and alcohol, she is verbally abusive to my two small children, and I want her out of my house. Her father doesn't do a thing about it, when I am suffering and my kids are too. She has gone to counseling and is in counseling but I know she just sits there and says nothing. I just want to ship her off back to her mother.

I live in Texas and am a very involved father. I have never had a late child support payment (am overpaid actually), but very concerned about the quality of care my daughter is receiving from her mother. She did not receive her 3 or 4 yr old shots on time (I did not find out til school was starting for Kindergarten), she shows up on Saturday morning with same underwear I sent her to school with on Thursday morning, she seems mal-nourished and does not gain any weight. (Turning 6 in a week and weights 37 lbs - about the same weight for the last year). I know her diet consists of mostly chicken nuggest and french fries from McDonalds while with her mom. On top of all this, she does not enforce a bedtime, has multiple men in the house staying the night, demonstrates poor moral examples. The one thing she does well is shows her a lot of attention. My daughter sees this as love. I've thought about an attorney, child protective services, etc. What do you recommend for my situation?

my partners brother is 13 and very unhappy at home he wants to come and live with us in Scotland(he lives in England). He was here on holiday last fortnight and didn't want to go home. He is living with his mum just now in very crampped conditions there are 7 people in a 3 bedroom house. He shares a room with his MUM and his 10yr old brother both boys sleep on the floor with no matress. He is fed up with the way he is treated by his mother, 28yr old sister and the lodger. His mum hits him and shouts at him. He told us the other day that he asked if he could live with his dad and was told no coz I will lose all the money I get. His mum got child tax credits through the other day of £250(which she gets weekly) she bought no shopping and said that the money was for the bills. SHE GETS HER RENT AND COUNCIL TAX PAID. the last time the kids got new clothes was lastyear the clothes they do wear have holes in.

My fiance and I have been together on and off for 5 yrs. now, share a house and a child together as well. ALthough he knew from the start that I used the drug meth on occasional use, he didn't know a thing about it (tell signs, effects etc.) and had never even tried it, he has always spoke very low of addicts. Any how we spent sometime (3yrs.) apart and during that time I became a heavy user and was addicted. Once we had gotten back together it was just after a long period after I had been sober. So when shortly after our reconciliation I had a relapse and didn't want to admit defeat and dissapoint him, so I chose not to. From there it just kept on happening although he has had suspicions everytime he would bring it up I would lie my *** off and him believe it. Now a year later my addiction is becoming unmanageable and I know I need professional treatment but I don't know how to break it to him & still have his support. Also I know he would try to take custody of son:( so any advice?

My fiancee and I are forced to live with his mom because they own the house together and so no chance of us ever living apart from her. She has always been annoyingly controlling of me and ever since we had a baby last year it has gotten worse. I finally did have a talk with her that she needed to give me space to raise my son the way I wanted to, and she tried to back off but then she will just relapse back into her old ways. It is not just with my son but with my personal belongings and where I can keep them in the house all the way down to other things in my life. She has serious control issues and it's driving me nuts! I haven't talked to my fiancee about any of this and I know maybe I should because I think he feels similar that she tries to control him. Basically I need to hear from other moms who had to be forced to live with their M-i-L and how you may have handled it, even after you may have already talked to them about it. Thanks!

My mom is a wreck. Her mom, my grandma, is sick with cancer. She cant move, talk, do anything physical. She's on a feeding tube, and on a breathing machine. They cancer is wrapped around her heart, lungs, and throat. her muscles are pretty much mush and she’s thin as a rail, (she’s always been plump, so that’s scary) she's got NO white blood cells, and no immune system. She's in and out of consciousness, and cant be touched because she’s so susceptible to illness. She’s got phenomena and four infections. The doctors say threes a 1% chance she'll make it. I just don’t know how to comfort my mom. I know we're all expecting the worst, but praying for the best, but that’s not enough. What should I say or do after my grandmother’s death? How do you comfort a daughter who has lost her mother?
Any suggestions?
I just cant bare the thought of not knowing what to say or do when she dies...
My mom is so important to me, i just want to help her through this, but I don’t know how.
What to do?

Do I, as eldest son have any rights of say in my mother's (aged 97) finances. My younger brother wants to sell my mother's house and his house and with the proceeds buy himself a bigger house so that she can live with him. This would probably realise something in the region of £500,000. This would mean that I would get nothing in the event of her death. Can I insist that the proceeds of her house are split equally, so that I and my two sons do not miss out. My mother is not senile, and says that these are her wishes - to sell up and live with my younger brother. She has willed it that the proceeds of her house are split equally on her death, but of course she can change her will. Can I insist that any proceeds from my mother's house are split equally between my younger brother and myself?
