I love my gf and her daughter. I've been with my gf for about 11 months. I love her and her 4 year old daughter. My entire life I was treated like crap by my stepfather. My dad wasn't much better. My stepfather was more verbally abusive, while my father was kind of unavailable. My girlfriend is the disciplinarian. We recently thought of a reward system. We posted the "house rules." Whenver her daughter does certain things such as clean her room, etc, she gets stickers. At the end of the week, if she does really well, we take her out for ice cream or let her rent a movie of her choice, but if she doesn't follow the rules, she gets one warning and has a timeout for four minutes (one min for every year). Is this a good system? I want to have a household where discipline is explained. I don't want to be a dictator. Also, when her daughter does well, I think it's important to give compliments. Do these seem like logical tactics. I'm 26, my gf is 31.

The "in-law" term used in relationship in a family does indicate, promote and sustain a fabricated relationship. Agreed, you can never convert that relationship into a natural one. But still when one enters into that relationship and sincerely and determinedly make an effort to build up bonds equal to that of a natural one a certain amount of harmony can be maintained at home. In fact wisdom demands it. All over the world the 'Mother-in -law' and the 'daughter-in-law' relationships are viciously looked at and stories and jokes abound on it. But those who have done away that 'in-law' term are many and they are happy although it is a very difficult task. If from childhood this healthy relationship is preached there can be a lot of difference in family relationship in general. So why should not we have 'father, mother, brother, sister etc.' erasing that 'in-law' tag in our life. A very sensitive subject indeed! Deliberate in detail and respond, please. lileeann33

Is it wrong for wanting my parents to divorce? I love my dad so much and i love him way more then my mom, he acts like a normal dad but my mom, she always argues with him, and (my dads father died about 10 years ago) and she keeps reminding him of it and telling him that he killed him (emotionnaly) isnt that morally wrong? Also she sometimes yells at me for no reason and sometimes i say something and then she gets on her rants and i keep saying okay okay just calm down but she doesnt stop she just keeps on yelling until it gets to the point where she is caling my a *****, telling me that she hates me that i am worthless while i am trying to hold back my tears. Also she had an brain anuyresm about 3 years ago, but she was like this before, also my sis had anorexia and it was reallly bad and my mom keeps blaming my sis for her anuyserm and when we argue she tells me im jus like my sis and that i am going to kill her and she wont let me see my sis (who is in college now) is my mom crazy

i am the least favorite of all the grandchildren. she blamed me for ruining my dad's life when he married my mom when she got pregnant with me. grandma never acknowledges me growing up (never put a plate for me during dinner at her house!) and constantly reminded me that if it wasnt for me, my dad could have married somebody better. now times have changed and she's very old and sickly. i am the only one in the family who have money to spare. everybody is expecting me to step up and pay all her bills. i pity on what's happening to her but i just dont feel any connection to her. should i still help her?

"Alone"

Chapter 1

“We have to honey you know Mommy and Daddy don’t have enough money to feed all of you and your Aunt promised she’d take care of you at least for a couple of years.” consoled Abby’s mother.
“But Mommy you can’t just leave us.” Abby said in a trembling voice.
“ Well you’ll have Willy with you and your Aunt isn’t mean. She is very well off and will give you and Willy a wonderful education” Abby’s mother promised.
“Mommy you know that won’t work Aunt Adeline is a witch and she’ll probably send us out west anyways she is just like Grandfather.” Abby exclaimed as she ran to the door determined she would run as far as the west and never come back.
Once outside Abby felt the coldness of the whole world heavily weighing down upon her. How could her parents turn on her like this? Some how she would make it right and bring Willy back to know his parents. Discouraged she decided to swing on her favorite old wooden swing her dad had built her when she was a baby. As she swung s

My brother dated this girl in high school for about two years and was totally in love with her. She really wasn't a very nice person, after high school, my brother went to boot camp and he set up a joint checking account for her and him. While he was away and sending her money, she began a new relationship with another guy and used my brother's money he was sending home on this new guy and she was sleeping with the new guy. When my brother came home, she dumped him for the new boyfriend and my brother was devasted. My brother is now 29 years old and he's still in love with her. He thinks she was the sweetest woman ever and that she was a beautiful person. He believes that her father didn't like him and made her have a relationship with another man, he doesn't want to blame her for what she's done. I just don't get it, how could you feel that way about someone who did that to you? How could you not think they were not responsible for their actions and blame someone else?

Am I crazy or are there other parents that think it's inappropriate? It seems they used to only air them after 9:00 or so but now I see them at any given time. I'm talking about Hills have eyes II, Dead Silence, Saw II & so on. Some of the images are disturbing. For the record, I am far from a "prude", but dang!

What do you all think?

My daughter is having a sleepover on Friday night what activities should I have prepared? My daughter really doesn't do much but watch t.v. but thats not what I want them to do all day and night. I need some ideas. My 7 year old is having a sleepover at the same time, but they're easy. I just don't want to take 5 kids out to the movies or whatever. I need ideas for what to do at home.

I'm now 40, and up until that last 3 year never would have thought anything was missing. My parents were both great so I have no complaint about that. Still, there are some things missing and other strengths that I've developed because of my background. What are some of your experiences?

Ok, my mother is the foster parent to my nephew, who is now 16 and we were not in contact with since he was 9. He is very far behind in English. I tutored grammer in college and would be a perfect fit for him. I was asked to pick him up from school on monday, wed and fri and bring him to my home for 3 hours each night of study. I am a stay at home mom with 2 children and I am trying everything to help pay the bills from selling pure romance and avon. If you were me would you charge to tutor (she offered to pay) and if so how much would you ask to be paid? Thanks!

Was/is the relationship good or bad? What is/was the experience like? I still deal with my former foster mom, but she's still abusive to me. I had no place else to go after I lost my apartment in Hurricane Katrina. Now, I have my own place, but she still is abusive to me.
