I watched a program that stated that adults have to go through a series of psychotherapy sessions for at least a year before they are even considered for an operation. If that's the case, then I don't think a minor would be allowed to have a sex change even with parental permission.

I fully support their having puberty blocking hormones until the age of 16, where they can evaluate how they feel and decide if they would be happier with their biological gender or their choosen gender. Having the op available at 18+ is a good idea for liability reasons.

I don't understand the arguments that people have about children being unable to decide about this, how long have you known if you were a boy or girl? If your body had started developing in the wrong way for you your life would have become hell and may not have been possible to fix, even with todays technology, and withholding puberty blockers at the least would be inhuman, no one deserves that type of suffering.

I think you should at least be 18 before getting the actual operation, for liability reasons if nothing else, however, it would be fine for the parents to approve the use of hormonal therapy to begin the process.

Are you serious about this. Children dont have the capacity to make those kinds of decisions.

Children are emotionally incapable of making that decision. It is wrong!
