My parents are divorced and my mom physically abuses me, but when I called the police, they don't believe me because no marks are left. I'm 14 and confused as to what to do.

Tell your dad, that's probably why they divorced in the 1st place. If all possible, plant a hidden camera.

To be honest, I would play dirty if I were in that situation. If no one believes you then your dad gaining full custody of you is nearly impossible! (Trust me, my husband tried to get full custody of my step daughter and it never happened; even with the best lawyer we could afford).

If your mom is really abusing you I'd give myself some bruises. After your mom hits you, hit yourself in the same place hard to make sure you leave a mark. The next day, go to school and tell your counselor what's going on and show him/her the marks your mom left-wink wink. A school counselor is obligated to notify Child Protective Services (CPS) and CPS has to investigate. If they see the bruises and see that you've made attempts to call the police before you will start staying with your dad at least until the investigation on your mom is over. For your dad to gain custody of you, he'd have to go to court and ask for it and there would be a trial to determine if the court will award your dad full custody of you.

I know this answer is controversial but if you want to get the job done- get it done. A parent who is abusive shouldn't ever have custody of a child. I'm sorry you haven't had any luck yet.

Talk to them again- a different Cop, Cops have to listen, they can't NOT listen. You can petition to live w/ your other parent and the courts can grant you permission. Otherwise you could call child protective services or talk to your school counselor about helping you get in touch w/ the courts to get you moved out to your dad's place.

Not sure where you live, but in Ca.. I believe you can make that choice at 12 years old.. Maybe your mother doesn't want to give you up because she get's child support? Talk to your father and express your desire to live with him.

You are old enough to make the decision of who you would like to live with depending on your state.

Talk with your father and do research on the web regarding custody/visitatiion and your rights.
