I wouldn't worry to much about it. As long as you are providing a happy and secure home for your child you will probably find she wont even ask. And if she does just explain quickly and correctly and dont make a big thing out of it and she wont either. You might find that by the time she is old enough you probably will be a different person than you are now and your life will have moved on and over her father. I hope you are over him. It will open yourself up to meeting new guys and hopefully you will meet someone who will treat your daughter as if she is their own.

There are different ways for different scenarios. If it is possible/basically benign to do so, tell the truth. If it would be a heart scarring reason for the child, put the best possible spin on it, or omit pertinent details. Without knowing exactly why...you make it sound so permanent...I'm assuming this is a no-going-back type thing? In any case, if there is bitterness between u and the baby's father, try not to let it infect the innocent one. The last thing a kid needs is even more unnecessary baggage than they will get in any case.

I wouldnt worry about it too much. but you should tell her when she is an older teenager because as a teenager i would want to know why my dad didnt live with us, yeah maby there were a few bad decisions but she is your daughter and will love you anyway. if she asks when you think she is too young to handle the information to not lie to her about it, just dont tell the whole truth, because if you lie then it will make it just harder when truth time comes along.

You should learn to worry about things when they happen, not years before? That conversation is years down the road, and they sort of have their own way of working out. You will think of something at the appropriate moment.

Tell the truth when shes 16 to 18 and can handle it better. If you can.
Always protect her though.
