I'm confused...his surname? Do you know his name? I think you can if you go through the courts and have your parents permission.

If u really wanted to use his name even though it is not mentioned on the birth certificate. U can go to the birth registrar and change ur name by deed poll. I think its around £35 to do this. Hope this helps and u get the answer u r looking for

afraid not honey, the guys are right on this one.
firstly you should ask your mother the reaon why he wasnt named - there could be a really good reason for this and you might not want to be named after him when you find out why.
secondly, your gonna have to apply to the courts and change this
think long and hard before you go through with this, it could seriously damage your realationship with your mother and maybe even close family members such as grandparents and brothers and sisters
good luck, whatever you decide to do x

How can you use his surname if you do not know who he is?
You will have to use your birth name unless you go to court and have it changed.

I dont think you can. It was your mothers choice to not name the father for what ever reason. So if you dont know who he is you cant. If you do know who he is then i think you would have to change your name via deed pole.
