My mother never hugged or kissed me or told me how special i was to her,she told me she loved me after about 34 yrs of giving birth to me and my instant reaction was disbelief and mistrust. Before she passed away i asked what i had done wrong and she replied,
"nothing but you don't cook for me".She told me i was useless everytime i tried to please her and told her mates tht i ws a 'bastard of a child like my father' & 'possessed', i was even told tht if she knew this is hw i wld have turned out she would have smothered me at birth.I suppose as an adult i should pull up my socks, put the past behind me and live my life, very true, but everytime i think i get somewhere it is followed by a set back of some sort.
i have been for counselling on and off for the last 15 years .
i exercise regularly and go to dance classes as these things make me happy but am not really good at striking up friendships as i feel that these people will only get to knw the horrible person that i am,any advice

When you were younger and your parents told you things like, "if you keen dying your hair it will ruin it or fall out" or "credit cards will get you in to debt" what would be the one thing you wished you had listened to? And do you find that you try to pass these things on to friends they seem to ignore you and then find out the hard way or do they listen to your advice?

Im 20 yrs old and my parents are wary of letting me have a boyfriend. Ive had one already and it was "out in the open" but they never failed to tell me that they'd prefer if I was single. I really like this guy right now and Im planning to introduce him to my parents but if I do this, they'll surely be stricter than usual (when I go out, they'll give me an earlier curfew and Im sure that at the back of their heads they're thinking if Im out with my friends or the guy and if Im hiding something). HELP!

The girls really miss him and love him dearly. I feel sort of sad for them. I'm even feeling sorry for my ex as he claims he just truly does not have the money. I think that is about what he makes a year $100,000, or so he claims.
He also has a warrant out for domestic violence on my oldest, but she suddenly can see no harm, and feels perhaps I must have taken his family away. I tried to tell her we were in fear for our lives and he had already several domestic violence charges on him.

move away and i will more than likely not see them again. i have an ex girlfriend that understands me(sortof) she has said i can move in with her. i will get my car fixed , because it has a defect notice on it. then i can wove away my parents are also moving. so i will move away and forget that they gave birth to me, my father could have done better than that i mean he came from London and had all the money he needed at his finger tips. why he had to do this woman i would have no idea he was probably drunk as a skunk but hey anything looks good when you are drunk. and now that i am not smoking weed anymore i will be a bit more confident in the things i do in the future. it will work out 1by1 (knock knock knock on wood) thanks all for your help xD.

My sister in law hates me and I need advice on how to deal with her. I dont see her that much either. It seems like shes jealous and always has to compete with me. I have a 4yr and a 2 yrold, she has a 4yr and 6 month old. She competes with our kids. If I talk with a family member she walks up, interupts says how her child can do *whatever* way better than my kid and walks off. And she never uses my kids names, at christmas time she kept saying *your kid* instead of their actual name. My daughter has a learning disability and has a hard time learning things like numbers and letter but my sis in law will say Why cant your KID count? or something rude like that. I recently had my tubes tied, and my husbands family was totally against it, they believe in LARGE familys so everytime I see the sis in law She says Are you going to have more kids..oh wait you cant. She does much more How do I deal with her? I usually ignore her or snap at her then I look like the *BAD ONE*

Have you noticed the change in children's imaginary play since we were little? I used to play mummies and daddies, most of the children I come across now play parties and pretending to be their fave celebrity. My friends and I used to want to be nurses and teachers, now many children just want to be famous. Don't you think this is sad?

So tonight I lost it.
Here's what happened:
I spend alot of time at his house. He falls asleep earlier than me often, and to pass the time I go online and check emails, participate in a couple message boards, go on yahoo answers, etc.
Well you know how when you are going back and forth from one site to another, instead of typing the web address each time, you can hit that little down arrow and see what websited were visited recently and just click on them to go back. Ok, well I often see that he has visited porn sites. I always try to shake it off, telling myself "a guy is a guy and its none of my business anyways". Tonight I went online after he fell asleep again and saw that the last thing he visited was ANOTHER porn site. I snapped. I woke him up and told him to take me home. He kept asking why and finally I told him. He said he loves me but it helps him get to sleep, ...I left the car in a huff. I love him, should I wait for him to call me or am I in the wrong??

I know this sounds selfish and awkward, but sometimes i feel frustrated and angry that i wish i am the only child in the family.

1) When my younger brother and sister were born, i couldn't continue having piano lessons anymore because of financial difficulties.
2) I have to give up many of my precious time doing my own things to look after those 2 young devils.
3) I have to share a bedroom with my younger sister and that means i have no privacy anymore.
4) Last year, both of my younger siblings tried to pick the lock of my cabinet in which i kept my money.
5) If anything happens or go wrong, my parents would target me and confront me first. (As if EVERYTHING is my fault)

In the end, i cannot advance in my favourite hobby which is playing piano up to Level 8, have no privacy and can't concentrate in what i wanted to do. All these make me upset and angry that i really wish i am the only child. Anyone feel the same???

I'm a 30 something adult and this is a relative in her mid 50's who I have not had much contact with since I was a kid. Everytime I tried to walk away from the situation she would follow me and insist that it was disrespectful and hurtful for me to leave before we had "worked everything out". What do you guys think? Is it better to stay and let someone yell at you and refuse to hear your side of the situation because you shouldn't disrespect your elder relatives or should you walk away no matter what their age or relation is if they refuse to stop the verbal abuse? Is there some other solution to the situation that I may not of thought about?
