I'm not sure of your ages and not sure what reasons your mother has for denying this information to you. If you do locate your dad, please be prepared for bloth good and bad results. Most often we think the grass will be greener and are disappointed to find that it's not all what we imagined.
Your church might be able to help provide finances in locating yhour dad. What about the Salvation Army or Good Will? Do you have your dad listed on your birth certificate? This would be a great start if he is. If you have information on schools in the surrounding area, classmates.com could work for you as well. Have you talked with another family member who might be able to provide other information? You can go on the internet to do further investigations on your own.

Sally Army are very good. look for marriage certificates in the library of the area they were married and check electoral registers from the area you know they lived in. i found my mum's address by mistake while looking up her parents address. he may have family who live in the area who can put you in touch or on the right path at least. good luck i know how hard it can be

http://www.b4usearch.com/ <-------try this link
she may be protecting you from him, that's why she is not telling you about him, but try that link if you really need to find him....i was in the same boat as you...my mother never told me who my dad was till i was 36...when i got to meet him, it was not what i thought it would be like, so if you do contact him, be prepared OK. because anything could happen, don't build your hopes up too much and don' expect everything to be great if you do meet him, he may not have contacted you for a reason, so think about it first....good luck.....ps....sit with your mum and get more info about him, ask her why she will not tell you who he is, she must have her reasons....she may be hiding something or she may be protecting you...but the only way to get info is to keep asking till she caves...you do have a right to know...try this link, you will get a few names and addresses come up....try them all...again good luck

Have you written to the last address you know he lived at? Also try phone books for the area. You could also try using
www.findmypast.com (the old 1837online) website to see if he has married again.
Good luck in your search.

Don't be offended by what I have to say.
Ask your mom point blank: "Am I an illegitimate child? Did dad leave you when he found out I was not his?"
Be brave to face the consequences.
You have my support, for whatever it is worth.

If he's online, try Friends Reunited. Post your own ad & either he will get in touch, or someone he knows will see your name & let him know.
