Well the problem is your MIL but it starts with your husband, he needs to make her understand that you and him can't simply stop your marriage and be at her beck n call, he needs to set boundaries to show his mother that even though she may live with you she has no right to make remarks under your roof about anything they do as it doesnt affect her in any way, and that any problem she does have with the marriage should be kept herself as it is her problem, and she shouldn't make it you and your husbands problem. Suggest that she find another man in her life and not try and make your husband her own, she needs to find another one who can be there for her because your husband cant possibly be expected to forget about you, you are his wife and when you get married the priorities change, its not saying that your husband has to hate his mom or treat her badly, he just needs to put her 2nd after your needs, just as his father would have put her with his mother, shes being selfish.

She IS lonely. And afraid that she will be left out of things. Try to get her into some kind of group activity that she is interested in. Does she play cards, knit, sew?
Is there a senior center nearby where she can go and make friends? Does she belong to any church women's groups?

Do you include her sometimes when you go out? Or is it always just the two of you?

Yes it is jealousy and loneliness and probably other reasons as well. I sure wish I knew the perfect answer for you.

It has to be your husband that does something about it. You might help him do something by making these things so obvious that he can't miss what is going on.

He might just let her keep whipping him. In that case you have a tough decision to make.

remedy that by each of you taking her out....you and her one night and he and her one night. maybe once or twice a month...might make her feel more peaceful and special. :)
