My 6 month-old has always been VERY friendly. But lately, she's "scared" of some people, especially those with loud laughter. My mother-in-law has a boyfriend, who has a loud laughter, and my daughter is so afraid of him. When he comes to visit, she could be all smiles, and as soon as she sees him, she starts to pout, and to cry. I know that she will eventually grow out of it, and that it's only a "phase", but my mother-in-law INSISTS on bringing the baby closer to him. yesterday, she even asked him if he wanted to hold her! I felt a bit upset, to be honest, because she didn't ask ME if it was ok, and she knows the baby is scared of that man, why can't she wait until later, when the baby feels more comfortable around him? By the way, he laughed when he had her on his lap, and sure enough, she started to cry! Is it necessary to put the baby thru that? Could it be better if my MIL would give her time to get used to seeing him around? How can I talk to her about this without upseting her?

I hardly know my father. O.k. My dad has been in my life physically but not emotionally or anything else...He would get home and slam the door to his room and don't talk to us. This went on for many years well uptil I was 18...My mom and dad split up almost 9 years ago...I lost my brother in a car accident last year and he didn't show any emotion to anything...I've tried to call him and visit plenty of times and just gave up after nothing on the other end. I reduced my calls and visits to 3 times a year for a half an hour or less. (Mardi Gras, Halloween, and fair time) Just yesterday, he called me out the blue...I asked him what he was up to and he said chilling and doing nothing, so I asked him if he would like me and my kids to visit and he says not to get out my way to go there. I told him that it was up to him if he wanted company and he said no...I even asked him if he wanted to come eat with us for lunch and he said no...I don't know what is wrong with him...any suggestions

He just doesn't want to work and help me pay the bills. Likes to stay up late and drink 2 or 3 nights out of the week and is mean to me because he's hung over and has bring the girls to pre-school because I work a morning shift.

I am completely out of ideas. I don't know what to do. Christmas is coming. I have a 3yr old and an 18 month old. Both girls.

He goes to college but so do I (my classes are homebased) and I work 5 days a week, still do the laundry, still cooks, still cleans. It's making me miserable and he knows it!

Do people just get stuck sometimes? I don't want to be dragged down anymore. What can I do?

I know a lady who spoils her kids, by washing their clothes, making them homemade dinner, and doing housework for them at times.

The kids are in their 40's and unmarried living out but they visit mom to do all the work. Is this unkind? Any moms out there like this supermom?

Can someone help me find something good to say about my aunt who was just removed from life support and is dying? She was a crack addict. She never worked a day in her life and left her 2 kids when they were babies for my disabled grandmother to raise. She got hit by a car while crossing the street (high) to by a crack rock. I honestly can't think of anything good she ever did for anyone including herself. I just want to say something nice about her to my family.

My mom and some family friends decided to do Thanksgiving together. We're suppose to go to their house because one of them is working that day and so they can't come over. However we normally invite my aunt over on Thanksgiving. She's single and has nobody to spend it with but us. She doesn't want to come with us because she doesn't know the people. No matter what I say she refuses to come, she says she's fine with us going but I feel bad. I think deep down she might be hurt and is just acting OK about it. My mom and I have bickered about it. I think it's horrible my mom is choosing friends over family. She says the friends have nobody to spend Thanksgiving with either. Which isn't the same thing since they have each other and my aunt has nobody else. What to do?

How do I tell my alcoholic sister that there will not be any alcohol or tolerance for it at Thanksgiving this year. I'm hosting the family dinner this year and i don't want it to be turned into a three ring circus. But i don't want to hurt her feelings.

I have two beautiful baby girls... 2 1/2 and 11 months and I am pregnant again with our third- I am due in March. It could just be the pregnancy hormones but I always feel like a horrible mother... especially to my 2 year old. I work 40 hours a week and try to clean house when I get home, go to the grocery, wash clothes... everything and it feels like no matter how hard I try to sit down with my 2 year old I'm either wore out and can hardly sit up straight or she's into everything and I have to yell at her a lot, or it's already her bedtime.... AHHH! I just want some quality time with my girls that isn't full of having to discipline them or tell them no or whatever. I feel like she hates me.

There is so much to this story. I am 26 and my brother is 28. He has been involved in drugs since the age of 13 and has two warrants out for his arrest. I never see him because he is always high, drunk, sprung out and he scares me. He was physically abusive to me when we were teenagers so it is hard for me to be around him. This does not mean that I do not care about him. I hurt everyday because I don't know where he is or if he is alive. Today, I saw him...sleeping on the side of the road. I am so depressed and so sad because I want to pick him up and try to save him. My family has tried numerous times to get him in rehab or shelter him. My mom has tried to help him by giving him a room to sleep in but he robs her everytime he goes there. I know this is long but heres the question... Should I call the police and tell them he has a warrant and I know where he is? Maybe then he will have food and a place to sleep and maybe he can sober up. Or should I leave him be?

Her mother had custody when my boyfriend and her split, but then she got a job as a stripper and left the little girl (4 yrs) with a granparent for 2 months. as soon as we found out we went and got her and have had her ever since, about 6 months. It took her mom 3 months before she even realized we had her. When she did she agreed to let us keep her. She said she would have a better life with us. Everything was great until she came to visit for her daughters birthday. Ever since then she has been crying for her mother about 4 to 5 times a day. I feel bad for her but It's starting to seem like a way to get sympathy when she is in trouble this has been constant since the one and only visit we got from her mom, over two months ago what should I say?

I recently lost my mother - she was 53 and Im finding it very hard to cope. I have contacted CRUSE but it seems to old ladies whose husbands have died. I have been to my GP who wanted to refer me to a psychiatrist!? Just wondered if anyone else had been through this and what their thoughts were

Many thanks

My father has been acting different for the past few months. He's not as home as much, he drinks, and he spends less time with the family. Recently, my siblings and I proposed the idea that he's having an affair with a lady at work (he's always talking about her.) All signs point to an affair and we even found a few text messages in his phone having words like "love" in it. We are reluctant to tell our mother, knowing it would destroy her. She is a very humble lady and so trusting, we could never do that to her. How can we confront him if there's no solid proof? (he deleted the texts).

I am financially independent and have recently started graduate school; he plans on moving to the area next year to look for work before going to a nearby grad school and we want to live together. We have been dating for two and a half years and are in a happily committed relationship; we're both 22.
Money-wise, we can both afford this.

However, I really want my parent's approval on this and am not sure what they are going to think of my proposal. How can I bring up this topic, and get their approval?

my husbands sister (who helped raise him and calls our son her grandson), gave us a puppy for christmas last year...she said that our son (who was only 2 months old at the time) needed to grow up with a dog in his life. the problem was...i hate dogs, okay, i dont hate them...i just dont want one.....this puppy chewed up my sons new things (crib legs, swing, ect.), it pooped and peed everywhere, and was in general a nuscance (sp?). we ended up giving the dog away to the pound a couple of days after christmas. the real reason that they gave us the dog is b/c their dog had puppies and they couldn't keep them all. they have been kind-of distant this whole year and i was just sitting here thinking about it and remembered the dog....If you were in my situation...how would you have handled that?? Did i make them mad?? was i wrong to get rid of the dog??
