How long has it been? Generally, you wait a year before putting up the permanent monument. If it has been a year, then ask her. She may be unable to face the task. She might welcome the help.

i think that it is a wonderful idea. bit in order to find out if this is something you can do call the cemetery where he has been layed to rest. the wife may not be able to afford to get him one. may i ask why you don't just talk to her about this? i know that when my father past away my step mother asked for a double plot, but she never paid for the second one just the one my father is in. therefore anyone including a non family member can buy the second plot.

Communication is key...
Is she still grieving, is money tight, etc. It could easily be assumed that she has not done this for some "negative" reason, but in reality, if you don't talk to her, you really don't know.
Just attempt to be fair and show the respect and concern in a sensitive situation like this, that you would want shown to you, if you were in her shoes...
Be blessed.

yes i am sure that you can . has she not put one on there because they are very exspensive i know when my first husband died i felt so bad because his parents had to put the headstone on there because i could not afford it.Yes just make sure that you include her in the decision making because it would be a nice gesture. If you all dont get along I would still let her in on it because it is her right to be included. good luck and god bless and I am sorry for your loss. Happy thanksgiving. I will pray that all goes smoothly.

Do you know the situation? Has she ordered one? Is she saving for one? Does she plan on having one done in the future?
ASK HER! Communication helps most all situations! She might love it if you helped her with this?

Yeah you could, but I think you should ask jer first, she may have wants to also but didn't have the money, so ask her to be on the safe side, and I'm also sorry for your lost.

Yes you can, but keep her involved and let her know that you are planning on doing this. That way she won't get the feeling that you are doing this behind her back.
