I went through an atty and got power of attorney papers for my mother to enroll her in school..and take her to the doctor and such, I do not have to give up custody of her to send her to a different state do I?

The power of atty will be all your mother needs to enroll her in school and get her medical attention...Good luck to you.

No, unless you go through the court system and legally give custody to your parents. The power of attorney is just so that your parents can act on your behalf in regards to your daughter's best interest.

No that just gives your mother rights as far as getting medical treatment and deciding things in her best interest its not giving up custody. I live in West Virginia so thats why this caught my attention. Hope everything works out for you!! :) Good Luck

You don't say why you did this. I can't imagine sending my child away from me, so you must have a very good reason. If your Mother decided to keep your daughter, she might have a good
chance of doing so. Unless, like I said, you do have a good reason.

No. Power of attorney does not transfer custody.
