When I was 14, my Mum met my stepdad. When I was 16, they got married. We've lived together for about 4yrs now, but since we moved in together, he's been non-stop overprotective about me. When they met, I was in a relationship with a guy, but because he didn't like him, he ruined the relationship between me and my boyfriend. Since then, he has forbid me to have a relationship.
I have given up so much because of him: I stopped going to church because everytime I came home from church he would give me an inquisition about why I believe in God and why I go, I stopped seeing all my friends, I haven't had a relationship for 3 years now. I just feel so trapped. I can't do anything without his sayso. Even if my attitude supposedly changes, he questions me about who I'm seeing behind his back.
I just need a solution. I even keep thinking about walking outta the house & not looking back, but It's not exactly the most mature way of handling this.

It seems to me (my opion) that people today have no staying power like the people of yesterday (the 70's & 80's) The first thing that upsets one of the couple its time to throw in the towel. Whats your take?

The man I love with my whole being has moved for a few years to another country... We did not communicate for nearly two months prior to him leaving... He said "I need to be able to say I stopped talking to you then left... not I stopped talking to you because I left:" Now this man called me the evening before he left and made a point of saying "I'm only going to be gone for a year I'll be back (gave the specific date) so, it's really only a school year.. In order to get my visa I had to buy the return ticket ahead of time...."

ok: so no communication since he left in July... but here's the kicker:

A co-worker has emailed him..... he emails back.... I type for the co-worker but do not add anything to what the co-worker says...... I feel like a caged animal behind thick glass unable to communicate with my love. Now.. the co-worker mentions myself and a couple of others (who he could care less about) yet tells everyone at the job hello.

Was that hello for

I have been with him for 3 years and he's always been the one to comfort me when things in my life went wrong.
Up until recently, he's never been truely unhappy.
The thing is, his dad has got very ill with bowel cancer, we only found out a few days ago.
I'm finding it so hard because I have never seen this side of him. I know how hard it is to cure cancer, I have already lost my aunt to it... She was about 30 years younger than his dad and she didn't survive it.
I keep trying to tell him his dad will pull through but I think he knows I'm just trying to give him some hope.
It doesn't help that I now live about 300 miles from him and don't get to see him like I used to.
It's awful for me to because his dad is like a dad to me.. and my boyfriend is really close to his dad, I don't know what is going to happen if he doesn't make it through cancer...
I'm not sure if something as devastating as this is going to cause him to change or us to seperate because he can't cope..

Me and my girlfriend have been together for the last 2 1/2 years. Granted our relationship hasn't been perfect and its almost all my fault Well last week she decided to end it and just be friends. I'm totally crushed this is all I can think about. However, she is still spending some time with me or will still talk to me on the phone, for instance last night we walked the lake, Friday we'll have lunch, and Saturday I'm going to a wedding with her, and she's going to a game with me. She says she has no interest in me and her right now, and were just going to be friends. If she only wanted to be just friends would she be spending this much time with me right now? Or even though she denys it, is she giving me the opportunity to show her I do still care about her, and that I want this to work. I really want me and her to get back together, but I just can't tell from these mixed signs what she wants. It just seems to me she wouldn't want to spend so much time if she wasnt considering us still

A gentlemen called me to ask if it would be ok for him to call me sometime to go to lunch or a movie. I know this person from church, and he knows my situation; was married for 17 years and then widowed, with two young children. Anyway, I told him he could call sometime. Well, I don't know what I would talk about! Surely he doesn't want to hear about my late husband, maybe a little on the kids, but for so long my life was with husband and kids, and I'm not sure how to get past that and have an adult conversation with a nice man. I'm more worried about conversation than kissing him. We live in a small town and anywhere we went someone I know would see us, and then I have to worry about the "date" being all around town, then I would have to deal with that gossip. My dearest friend is happy for me. I was just taken by surprise. When you eat with two boys every night, the discussions turn a little gross and strange noises are made. All new to me.

Talked on the phone about an hour a day for about a week and a half.He sent a lot pictures of himself and family also his work website where he has a very reputable reputation in the community in newspapers,tv .Really enjoyed talking but he is about 8 to 9 hours away.He also sent me flowers .Was all set up to come see me he made flight arrangements and hotel for himself and wanted to take me to dinner.I still have a highschool child who I don't plan on uprooting for 4 more years till he is finished in school.Well I called and said I was just not comfortable with the distance and did not think it to be a good idea to visit. He emailed me and wished me well and said I was fabulous . He did not pressure me into changing my mind at all and said on the phone if I didn't feel comfortable with it that was ok.I really miss talking to him should I ask him for a second chance to at least meet him?He also does a lot of travel and is looking for his soul mate . Travel would be hard becaus of child

I am 35 years old, I am a single parent of a fabulous 12-year old son and I am very youthful looking. In fact, I am so youthful looking (I always have been), that people ALWAYS seem to think that I am my son's slightly older teenaged sister. People usually think that I'm around 18-20 years old. I am 5'4" tall, I weigh 121 pounds and I wear a size 3 (I wonder if my size has anything to do with it).

Most of my peers look much older than me and I can't lie, I can't see myself dating someone my own age who looks like my father, so maybe I'm a bit picky myself. Men who are my own age, that I might want to talk to, don't ever speak to me because they think that I'm a kid. Lately, the only males who even try to talk to me are usually in their early 20's -- too young for me.

It is nice to look you, but looking as young as I do, seems to be a but of a curse. What do you think?

I for one have a pretty good marriage. By this I mean I don't have to pick up his socks, or put down the toilet seat. I don't have to tell him to give the kids a bath, or fix things around the house. We both make pretty decent money, so we don't have the "money" argument many couples have.

But then I realized that we get along so well because we purposely avoid confrontation. So when something comes up that needs addressing, we skate around it until it is too late. There is nothing worse than hearing from your partner that they are upset with you when you had no idea. And as a result you become defensive to the other persons onslaught.

So tell me. If you do indeed have a good marriage/relationship, what ABOUT it, makes it good?

Serious answers, please.

Americans objectify women. Women are led to believe their worth is based on looks, playboy covers not on character or intelligence. Anna Nicole Smith, Monroe & Brittney r revered. If your not size 6 or under, your looked down upon.
Americans wont even let a woman be President. Many women have tried to run, but y have no females won?
R u telling me that over 200 years of freedom and not 1 female was good enough to be president in this free country??

Muslim &3rd world countries have had female Presidents/Prime Ministers You'd think USA where everyone should be equal would have caught up.

Those who say Muslim men stone/abuse their women: American men don't have to abuse their women. The women are already abusing their own bodies. A false sense of freedom when they say women can choose. YET.American females starve themselves(by CHOICE?) to death and engage in self destructive, promiscuity(getting diseases) and imposing silicone and unnatural substances in their bodies to be accepted.

He's basically a good kid
but he does'nt have a lot of ambition.
I am worried about her as she is too young and naive to see the reprecussions from this and he is not a strong enough individual to help her if anything should go wrong.
Her Dad is furious thats its been going on for so long
I thought they were just friends
She has been seeing him for about a year
Doing anything is going to hurt her so bad.
But her dad is on me to end it
Lay down the law..as he says
But this kid is pretty much all she has going for her as life here is rough.
So what should I do.
