That really depends to your relationship with that guy. If the guy is a true friend to you, then more often he will tell you the truth if you ask him.
But if he is someone whom you don't know that much. He might be hesitant to tell you what he really thinks and so that he won't hurt your feelings, he would rather tell you what you want to hear.
Also, if you are known to be a person of "superb sensitivity" not only guys are going to withhold the truth from you, even girls or your super close friends.. why? Coz they don't want to hurt you...

id say 95% of the time i say what she wants to hear.

My fiance said they only do it to protect us and wouldn't even lie if it was something serious. I thought that was a pretty good answer. haha. Then again us females ask some pretty tough questions.
