I am 35 years old, I am a single parent of a fabulous 12-year old son and I am very youthful looking. In fact, I am so youthful looking (I always have been), that people ALWAYS seem to think that I am my son's slightly older teenaged sister. People usually think that I'm around 18-20 years old. I am 5'4" tall, I weigh 121 pounds and I wear a size 3 (I wonder if my size has anything to do with it).

Most of my peers look much older than me and I can't lie, I can't see myself dating someone my own age who looks like my father, so maybe I'm a bit picky myself. Men who are my own age, that I might want to talk to, don't ever speak to me because they think that I'm a kid. Lately, the only males who even try to talk to me are usually in their early 20's -- too young for me.

It is nice to look you, but looking as young as I do, seems to be a but of a curse. What do you think?

I have a very good job and I own my own home. . .When I hire a repair person to come to my house to do some misc. repair -- I answer the door and they always ask to speak to my parents. I tell them that I am 35 years old and that this is my house. They are always in shock, because I am the adult.

maybe a change in hairstyle or clothing type, something that will make you look a little older will work for u....

and if you see someone that u want to talk to, then start a conversation. you have to remember that in these times, guys are probably scared to talk to a female that looks like she could possibly be underaged (i know you've seen that show where thay catch guys who talk to young girls)

..hope this helps....good luck

I agree, I used to have that same problem just opposite, men my age usually assumed that I was older. BC I was mature for my age, I had my own car(brand new mustang) a good job(insurance agent) and my own place ( I owned my townhome) all by the age of 20. By that time I was way beyond young and dumb so I carried myself more maturely as well. And the only men that wanted to speak to me were men in there mid 30's ( thats not old thats my age now) but at the time I was like eew!!! What I did was I did little things like I would dress very professional ( I had too for my job ) but I always carried a hip fly purse. Or I always let my jewelry be kind of different like a lot of bracelets, bigger ear rings vs studs. I highlighted my hair and etc. Things that could go either way. Also, after work or on the weekends I made sure that I toned down the whole insurance agent thing. I would wear jeans and heels and nice shirt with alot going on and bag to match. SO I was still able to mature but also stylish like a younger person would do. So maybe you could do the opposite, dress mature but not old. Like make sure your blouses say mom vs teenager. ( I would shy away from tennis shoes unless I am working out) Not alot of flashy jewelry, nice conservative purse. you know just mature it up as much as possible. I know like this seems like fashion advice but its not LOL!! Just some of the little things I did, and it worked too. To be honest I really I got this advice from my mentor and it worked so maybe it will do the same for you!!! Good luck!!

You just answered your own question. The reason why you are not dating enough is because you are too picky. You don't want to be with someone older, yet you don't want someone who is barely old enough to get into bars and clubs.

As a 37 year old single man, I share the same problem you do. I find myself too old for the nightclubs and too young for the VFW dances and bingo parlors. Do what I do and date someone within 10 years of your own age. If you are trying to find someone for the long term, then looks are going to fade anyway.
