In today's society why is it so hard for people to stay faithful to their better halfs?

2007-09-02 09:51:19 · 10 answers · asked by Lightbright 3 in Singles & Dating

My ex-husband and I have been divorced for about two months. We had a daughter together that will be 3 months in 2 weeks. The court gave me full custody and said my husband could see her whenever he liked as long as he contacted me.

Well today I get a call from my ex. He said that he doesn't want to see Ava (our daughter) anymore because he got his new girl pregnat and he didn't want Ava to see the baby. I was so shocked! He cares more about his new lady and his new baby more than his own daughter!

We live in different states and we are not near each other by cities at all, so this will be easy for him. He doesn't want pictures, letters, e-mails,IMs or anything from/about her at all.

He also says he's going to stop paying child and spousel support. How can I get over the pain and make sure I get child and spousel support that the court ordered to give me 2 months back? Any advice will be appreaciated.

I’m looking for unique ways of dealing with a friend of mine. We've been friends for a long time but what we once shared as commonalities are no more and our lives have gone in different directions. I've grown up, have a professional job, a wife and a house, saving for my retirement, etc...Basically I'm an adult now. My friend on the other hand is still living his same old reckless lifestyle...doing drugs, drinking, has no job, always wanting to borrow money, always calling me to ask if I can give him a ride to this place or that...it's really starting to get annoying because I've put that part of my life behind me. Sometimes I feel like telling him to get a job or if he quit buying drugs, maybe he could buy a car.

As strange as it may sound, I don't want him completely out of my life as we have a ton of history together (20+ years). I just want him to respect that i don't want to lend him money or be his personal taxi driver. What should I do?

my husband and i have been married more than 5 years, together for nearly 7, and in the beginning we were best friends, and never wanted to be apart from each other. we had an argument the other day, not really a forceful one and i said to him " it feels like we're not even married any more. you know?" he said yes real quietly, and i said "doesn't that bother you?" and he answered yes, it does. It's the first time he's shown any indication that he's hurting as much as me and wants to fix it. Since then, we have been real careful to respect each other, and be friendly again, but does anyone have any ideas maybe to start over and keep on that good path we started? oh, we have a 5 year old autistic child, so it is a factor in our stress.

If your a guy? I mean when I look in the mirror I see me, thats it. And to me I look good. But my opinion would be extremely biased. So looking in hte mirror is not a good way to measure this. So how else are you supposed to know if your good looking?

I've been divorced for 2 yrs now. I'm expecting a baby from my new husband and yet my ex still won't let go. He keeps calling me and playing sad love songs on my voicemail. And he keeps telling me that it should be his baby I'm carrying and he's even passed by my work a few times. I don't know what to do. I threatened to call the police and he hasn't driven by my job anymore, but he won't quit calling and texting me. I am changing my number, but he sends me letters in the mail as well. What should I do?

When I was young my Dad made me believe that the reason our road was resurfaced was because my dad had asked nicely for it to be done. I thought of this the other day when I visted my parents and the road was being re-surfaced again.

My hubby has been working non-stop all summer. The last couple of nights he has wandered in around 2:00 in the morning. He is NEVER home for dinner and leaves first thing in the morning. I have been asking for some time with him for over a month. Nothing big...just a movie. He has yet to take me. However, he does manage to take a break from work to go and play soccer. I feel like a single parent. I work, cook, clean, and play with the kids all on my own. The hubby does take the kids to his soccer games and lets them come to work with him sometimes, but I am lonely. I appreciate the fact that he is ambitious and a hard worker, but is it too much to ask for a little attention? Hopefully, the non-stop work hours end soon. I NEVER complain, but the one time I mentioned that I felt overwhelmed his response was "quit feeling sorry for yourself". Sorry...that was long. Anyway, do you think I am being unreasonable?
Oh, for those of you that suspect cheating...he's not.

I am just one of those people who everyone, even the teachers, just never liked.

one of the only friends I have constantly reminds me that she used to hate me. not "dislike", hate.

I don't want to have to change my personality in order to make friends, and I feel like changing myself only lets me have fake friends.

I don't want any of that bullshit that says "just be yourself!!!" because that's what got me in this situation in the first place.

even at my old school, I was the only one out of 26 kids that wasn't part of the clique. I was always picked last, and I just want it to end.

what do I do? ):

well there is this guy and..i like him. but before i even noticed i did, he has been sending me messages like i love how we have so many classes together at school. and can i call you, can you call me? stuff like that. Also, during class i can get a lil hyper and he always turns around even when i say the dumbest thing and smiles. ^_^

when we talk on the phone he's always listening to me. We dont say too much, but we can last on the phone for..prob 30 min? [i know not alot] .

a friend of mine asks me all the time
"eve, do you like ___?" i dont say anything, cuz im not exactly bff with her, and she used to go out with him like a long time ago. BUT TO THE POINT--does he like me?

Ok, I am 25 and my husband is 41 years old. We've been married for 6 years, we do not have kids yet, but he has children from previous marriage. Every time I ask a question on yahoo answers I get really negative reaction from people , like "what are you doing with such an old man" or "how can he be so irresponsible to marry a twenty year old woman, he has children and needs to be a responsible father!" or " why would you marry an old man with kids" etc. Well, I married him because I love him, what's wrong with loving an older man? Yes, we have conflicts and we have problems and we work on them because we care about each other and we want to be together. Yes, sometimes it is hard to get along with him and we are different, we like different things and we have different opinions, but that happens in many marriages. So why are people so judgemental and criticize both of us just because he is older than me? I am in my twenties but it doesn't make me stupid or irresponsible!
