Story is .. got pregnant at 18, so was he. I had the baby at 19, he never worked, was a lazy bum, who always wanted to be playing video games. When my baby was 10 months I got a job, and since then I started being independent and moved out on my own. She is now 7 going on 8, I have been with my fiancee now, for 4 years and we'll be getting married soon. He has been a great father figure to my little one. She loves him and respects him very much. She misses him way more when he leaves even for a couple of days, than her real dad who she wont see for more than 3 months at a time. He is continiously losing his jobs, going to jail (DUI tickets) and I am never able to collect child support from him. I have always taken care of my daughter on my own, and now with the help of my fiancee he's provided a great home for us, we are his family, as much as he is to me and my daughter. He [real dad] now is out of jail (again) and is calling me because he wants to talk to my daughter, but I don’t want to do that. It upsets me that he just wants to come around whenever he wants to and he never has been there financially to deserve that? Should I feel this way? Am I being unreasonable? I have been the one to struggle and been there in every way possible for my baby and he has had it so easy, why should I do anything to make things easier for him?

I wonder if there is a way where I can have him give me full custody of her, or will that automatically happen once I marry? Will he always have a “right” to her as long as he’s on the birth certificate?

To be honest I was a lot happier when he was locked up, that way he wasn’t bothering me or her…. Any advice?

I love my mom, I really do, but it's gotta stop. I've asked politely, pointing out that I've been divorced for nearly 2 years and I've happily moved on and remarried. Here's the deal: Actions, viewpoints, and expressions of my new husband are constantly compared by her to what my ex would have done/thought/said. He's not even in my life anymore, so there's no proximity that would be spurring on this obsession. When we talk on the phone (we live in diff't states), she feels the need to verbalize her compare and contrast exercises. I can't even go 2 weeks without this taking place at least once in a phone conversation. The last time I asked her to please stop doing that she acted upset. Well guess what. I am upset and tired of this. I don't want to CONSTANTLY be reminded of my first failed marriage through her unsolicited observations. How do I make her stop???

A few weeks ago, i worked up the nerve to ask out a girl i was crushing on for months, it caught her by surprize, so i left it an open ended option. next time i saw her she seemed almost apologetic, saying she wasn't expecting that and that she was "spoken for". i was almost relieved, now we could go on being friends and i wouldn't have to waste emotions or continue to crush on her, though i probably still do abit. anyways, now when i see her shes really tuned into me, excited almost for when i come around. its probably just something fun for her, and i don't care, but now knowing that she has a boyfriend, i was looking to distance myself from the situation, tone it down; she seems to be opposite, whats that mean?

Do you think calling the lines is cheating, wen you have been in a relationship for over 8 years?

We have been married 3+ years, together for for over seven years. I still love her, and I have no intention of being unfaithful. Our relationship is fine, no problems beyond the occasional "standard" issues. We get along well. And she is very caring toward me.

Is this all that love is? A lot of excitement and heat at first, only to slowly fade away over the years to a kind of "comfortable-ness"?

My grandmother just had a stroke and she is home with my mom, brother, and I. However, we have a friend who is friend's with my Grandfather. However, he met my mother a couple of months ago. And, asked for her phone number. Since then, he has fixed our computer, does errands with my mother, and helps out around our house. Problem is he is around sixty years old and is married with two grown daughters. When he comes over to our house his wife or daughters are never with him. One time, he invited us to dinner at his house when his wife or daughters were not at home. He calls my mother at least three times a week and comes to our house at least two times a week. Even though my Grandmother is sick right now and he seems to be helping out. Is it weird that he never take his wife with him? Does he has other intentions besides helping out? Does it seem like he has a crush on my mother?
Is this situation weird?

To start this off, I'm 24, this will be my second marriage (his first) and I have two children from my previous marriage. My ex and I had a horrible split and it's made my parents a little judgemental. We've been dating on/off for the past 3 years. He's recently proposed, I accepted. Without even meeting, my parents have formed a negative judgement based on the issue he's 11 years my senior. Now I need to know how to break the news to my parents with out them disowning me. He's wonderful Mr. Right. Loves my kids, accepts my past, and wants to build a future. I've told them this and it all seems to fall on deaf ears. Need help finding the right words.

If I am having trouble trusting my boyfriend should I check up on him by checking his email etc? Or do you think what I don't know won't hurt. I have the chance to check his mail but I don't know if I should.

If so why?

If Not why and what circumstances would you cheat if it came to that?

For me I am not a cheater cause I find no reason to be hurtful to someone I care about even if the temptation is great. Plus I would treat people as I expect to be treated! At this point I haven't found any "excuse" to cheat.

I was out one night and hooked up with this guy. Well come to find out he had a girlfriend I did not hear from him for about a month then they broke up he called me we hung out a lot for about three weeks then they got back together and he just ignored me. Are men really this heartless, to just use girls? Does he Truly love her if he is cheating on her???? Men explain I would love to know, what your thoughts are.

My current boyfriend has an ex who will not go away. He has not been in any sort of contact with her since Dec. 2005, when we met. She lives a state away, so at least she is not showing up at our house. All of her harassment is done on-line. When we first started dating she would send him really nasty emails, ie - she was going to report their dog as stolen to the police (which she let him have when they split). She's said she will committ fraud with his information 9she said she had an old copy of his social security card).... sometimes she will just send random emails about what is going on in her life. He has never responded, not once. She'll beg him to contact her because her mom "is on the verge of dying and she's so sad." He washed his hands of her 2 years ago when he came back to their house once day and there were a bunch of used condoms in the trash. She has even hooked up with a new guy and is getting married. What can I legally do here?we just want to be left alone, FOR GOOD!

It is easy to say just leave but what if the history between these two people is so intense and long that it is not so easy to just throw in the towel? How does someone get over the ultimate act of betrayal and learn to love and trust that person again with the passion they had before the act? How long is the healing process? Is it normal to want to know every single detail? Will the feelings of worthless go away? Is it normal for the person with whom did not cheat to feel guilty? What does the spouse who commited the act have to do to earn trust back in his favor?

I want to know the answers to these things from those who have dealt with this and survived. How long have you been together after the act of adultery and has it ever to your knowledge happened again. If you commited the act, did you feel guilty? Did you earn your right to a place in the other persons life? How did you do it?

Thanks everyone!
