I am wondering if it is at all possible that the dvd burner works but the cd burner doesn't. I have a cd/dvd burner and it will not burn cd's at all. I am also considering of buying an external drive that burns cds & dvds for a decent prices. whats the best place?

When I turn the speakers on there is static and a green light...I know they are plugged into the right place and I checked the volume control panel and it's not on mute! Any ideas how to fix this??? thanks

I just purchased a brand new 120GB hard drive online. I installed it into my computer, and I booted from a Win98 startup disk. I ran FDISK and it couldn't create a partition. Then I tried to use Norton's DiskEditor and it said "Error reading drive..." Ok. So, I thought, that the disk needs lowlevel formatting. So, I used Maxtor's lowlevel format utility. I formatted the drive, and then I tried again. Same thing.

Then I started my computer in Windows XP, and clicked on Disk Management. It said one of my disks needs to be "Initialized" so I clicked Next... It did everything. Finally, it created a partition. In Windows XP, I formatted the drive using FAT32format utility which you can download from the internet, and then I copied some files on this new hard drive. Yay!
Now, I booted from a Win98 startup disk again, and FDISK can't see the partition on my new hard drive! I ran DiskEdit and it still can't read from the hard drive!!! I must access this hdd from Win98, and I can't do it.

iam having winxp installed.prior i have installed win98.i hava forgotten my administrative password in my winxp system.so i tried win98 with srartup kit of win98.now iam helpless as either win98 or winxp could not open pl help?when i tried to open computer i get a error message "pl remove unwanted disk (win98?) from the system?what am i to pl help?

Hi, i need to buy a new external hard drive, but i'm not sure which brand or model is the best.

I re-installed my computer to it's original state when I first bought it. It uninstalled the video card as well so I went to
re-install it. When I re-install the video card though my screen will be normal for a few seconds, then when you move something of minimize something the spot where it was will be scrambled. Also my Start Menu is scrambled. I don't want to buy a new video card, and I keep re-installing it over and over but I get the same results. Can anyone help? If it helps to know I have a NVIDIA GeForce 6200.

I have a custom pc with a 3.33ghz cpu & 2gb ddr ram. I am trying to install an ITE 8212 raid controller. I have installed the raid utility and driver. The card is securely in a pci slot. When booting with just the controller installed but with no drives hooked to it I will get a screen that shows the raid utility and 4 open slots, so everything seems fine. But when I try to boot with the drives connected to the controller I get the following message:

Checking NVRAM....Update OK.

Windows NT has not found enough extended memory. 7mb of extended memory is required to run windows NT. You may need to upgrade your computer or run a configuration program provided by the manufacturer.

Memory Map:
00000000-000A0000

I have reseated the memory, blew out any dust that may have been there, put different memory sticks in the PC (it does the same thing no matter what ram is in the pc). Anyone have any ideas of what to try next? I have searched all over the net and not found any ideas.

Hi,

I have a partition from my hard disk (D:) and the total capacity of the partition is 4.1GB.
Now when I go to properties of the drive, it tells me that I am using 2GB of space, when I'm only using 220MB when I go into the drive, select all, then right click on properties.
And also one time it said something about security storage or something, when I first opened it, but then I just closed the window.

My Netgear Wirelss Router (model wnr854t) one morning stopped working. The Green "ON" Light is on, but nothing else. I disconnected the broadband modem and connected that directly to my computer, and I get on, but not through the router itself. It is like it is "dead". I have even tried the factory reset... Any ideas?

My computer just randomly couldn't find my graphics card one day. So I tried to reinstall it and everything installed successfully but when i restarted my computer, after the Windows XP loading screen a blue error screen comes up and It says that there is a hardware error. Can somebody help me fix this problem? Im on a different computer right now because I can no longer access my computer. The only way I can go onto my computer is if I run a system restore. Solution???

hi, i just installed a new dvd-rom drive unto my old computer because my old one was broken and my windows will not start and the only way to fix it is through reinstalling the OS with my xp discs. But when i put a bootable disc in, it wont read the drive. I know floppy gets read automatically, but dont you need to install the drivers for an optical drive before the computer recognizes it? If not, then its just a bad boot disc, if so then how can i fix this. This drive is oem and came with no cd or anything.

Well i bought New Samsung T9 and i came home and put it in my comp, it showed me a balloon that said found new hardware MTP DEVICE then Found new hardware "a problem has occured during hardware instalation. Your new hardware may not work properly". I took it back to best buy and they hooked it up yo one of their comps and it worked fine and he said it was a problem with my comp, can anyone help me?
