Hi,

I have a partition from my hard disk (D:) and the total capacity of the partition is 4.1GB.
Now when I go to properties of the drive, it tells me that I am using 2GB of space, when I'm only using 220MB when I go into the drive, select all, then right click on properties.
And also one time it said something about security storage or something, when I first opened it, but then I just closed the window.

I just compressed the drive, and it was compressing the files one by one, and I saw some files that I never put on that drive (ex. D:\MiniNT)

Ok if I type in the address bar D:\MiniNT
it shows up with some kind of lock icon and tells me:
Recovery Partition
Warning!

This area of your hard disk
(or partition) contains files used
for your system recovery.

Do not delete or alter these files.

Any change to this partition could
prevent any recovery later.

if you have xp/vista, alot of the time its a backup drive where the backup copy of your operating system is stored for when you need to do a system restore/reinstall

Is this an HP or Compaq computer? Just a guess but that is where they put the restore software in case you need to completely restore your software installation.

You wont be able to use those files except when starting the machine. You will probably see a message that says "Press F10 to restore your system" etc.

It is a very common way to supply recovery without shipping a lot of CD/DVD's.
