If you know how to reformat your hard drive then that is what you need to do and just reload XP fresh. Hope you backed up all your important files. If you do not know how to format your hard drive, then please take it to a pro as reformatting a hard drive is not something you want to experiment with.

Please Note: I keep a little black book in my desk that has all my important passwords. I lock it in my safe if we go somewhere or we have nosy friends over for a stay. This way you will never lose your important passwords and this will never happen to you again.

Edit update: Not being able to see your computer makes it hard to say why your system is saying there is a disk that that is not there. I have seen this happen and when it does it is caused by something in your system being corrupted. This is a very deep system issue and that is why I can not help you short of telling you to reformat the hard drive and reinstall XP. Do not use win98 to fix your problems with XP. The reason is they are two completely different operating systems. 98 is based on the old DOS operating system while XP has its roots in the newer and more powerful NT operating system. Meaning that one of the operating systems can not talk to the other.

you have a very poor knowledge about os when your system has a os such as win xp which is a higher version of win 98 than you cannot lode a lower version of windows 98 .even if you lode that it will be something like what has happened. So i will advice to format the drive in which win98 is loded if that works than take backup all data and then format the drive with win xp .you may try loding win 2000/2003 server.

Hai,

The best thing which u can get back ur system into normal condition by running your current os (XP) on safe mode or debug mode. You can choose these options at the time of your system boot. At the time of your system boot keep hold f8 key form your keyboard, then u will find choices to choose the right.

yea, you're able to do this, there's a record that's located in C: you're able to open it and regulate it. The record call is BOOT.INI and its in all risk hidden and examine purely record . in case you hit upon it drag it in the notepad. in case you cant locate it open a notepad, record --> OPEN . Then pass to c: and in the open field type BOOT.INI and press open. After that record is opened , i desire to propose taking decrease back of the record via record-->keep AS. And keep it with any call, everywhere. yet you're able to nicely known the place u saved the record. After the record is opened the XP string could in all risk in the final analysis. be careful, maximize your notepad and choose purely that line and delete it. I repeat, that line on my own the place you hit upon the string "MS living house windows XP professional" (which you always elect while the pc boots up). And, why dont you alter the timer too, its default 30, replace it to 0. this could make you get into OS devoid of waiting. and that XP string too wont be shown after this. wish this, facilitates ya, I too had this difficulty, yet later based it myself, purely attempt to locate your OS, you will learn lots your self. ;) heat regards. later.
