if your PC supports PentiumIII/Pentium IV or higher CPUs you can add on the Video Card at the PCI slot. It will work. there is no need to upgrade your motherboard.
Note: remove ur current PCI video card and replace the new one

Don't get the two confused. PCI is an older hardware, and actually at a time they had graphics cards (e.g. voodoo cards) that could be installed on PCI. Then the standard went pretty much agp 8x, and only about 2 years ago, PCI express came out.
Also, there are some AGP cards (e.g. ati x1950pro) that perform amazingly for under 200 dollars. Just need to look for them.
So the best thing to do is buy a new motherboard, or if you have the money, replace the entire system. You can actually design a whole computer yourself relatively cheaply (~$1000 for a decent gaming computer if using previous gen parts), and there are lots of sites to guide you in making it.

They are differeent slots, PCI video is more than two generations old. Many mb's have more than one type slot, some have all three PCI, AGP and PCIe. If you have the slots, great, if not, do you have AGP (last generations)? AGP8 is almost as good as PCIe and the cards are VERY cheap right now because everyone is dumping them. If you don't have either, it's time to upgrade soon anyway. You don't have to buy a whole new comp, but vid card, ramm, processor is almost the price of a new comp and you can save some effort.

Nope, PCI is one interface, AGP is another interface, and PCI/e is yet another interface. It'd be like trying to plug a cork on a phone connector
