Hi guys,
i wanted to know how can i change the first screen i see when i switch on my HP laptop.It is displayed only for a few seconds and has the manufacturers logo but m having a difficult time changing it.I searched all over the net and all i got is how to change the boot screen or welcome screen. i m using windows XP and this screen is not the bootscreen as it comes before the bootscreen and displays the HP logo for a few seconds.You will understand if you use a branded pc and not an assembled pc as all branded ones have this screen on the start.Plz help!!!

I only have USB 1.1 on my laptop (so I cannot connect any more internal hardwawre). Is there anyway that I can get some sort of external hardware that allows me to use USB 2.0? Im guessing not, but I do not know everything! Hence the question.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

I just deleted my whole computer because I had a Trojan worm and my speakers are all set up I just need to know how to turn it on(there is no switch...).It has bostonmicromedia on it.

I just bought a 160GB Western Digital MyBook hard drive. It says on that box that it is supposed to be plug-and-play but apparenly I can't play when it's plugged in. It doesn't appear under my computer. The drive it self seems to be working fine since the indicator LED on it is on and I can hear it running. However, when I attach the USB cable to the computer, it says that windows could not recognize the USB device. Any ideas on what I should do ?

P.S. I am running Windows XP.

Aside from your typical over heat or reboot issues. I've been reading a lot of the importance of buying a good power supply. What are some of the typical things a weak power supply can cause while running games?

Basically I want to know if it impacts the video card and how it performs and what are some things one would look for that could be power supply related while playing games.

When I go to my "Device Manager" I'm missing only one thing, it is something called: Video Controller (VGA Compatible), which is in the list of "other devices". I think that's the video driver.

hi i currently have a decent system or so i think?
however with 2gb of ddr 2 667mhz ram i still feel it could be improved for perfomance and basic tasks on the desktop as vista can be sluggish at times i need information whether im the only person that has this problem and if its worth to upgrade to 3gb ram as vista dosent use the 4gb of ram so i gather?. please can someone help me here also thinking of getting some usb ready boost maybe 4gb to boost system

i have got a geforce2 mx100/200 and whenever i try to play any kinda game the computer hangs or i get the blue screen of death . I have a 828g intel motherboard and windows XP service pack 2. Even games which are light like IGI cause this problem in my computer . Is this problem because of hardware incompatibility????

Hi, i have a laptop with 2 external 500gb 7200rpm hard drives connected both via usb 2. (windows vista) I am copying my videos over straight from one to the other and it says the speed is 12.25mb/sec. This sounded slow to me but is it?

Ok this is actually in reference to my last question, but not neccessary to read it to answer this one. If the cd rom I'm using to load 98 is on the same channel, can I shut down the computer mid stream and put the cd in another cd rom drive to finish setup? You see, I'm installing windows 98 and its taking forever to load.

a)There is no need to worry as there is only one way to insert the CPU.
b)Pin 1 of the CPU is on the top left hand corner of the IC.
c)Pin 1 of the CPU is on the top right hand corner of the IC.
d)There is a "notch" or label indicating Pin 1 of the CPU.

Just thinking about my very first PC it was a 486 with 8mb of ram, i think and a 500mb hard drive. Just trying to compare this to todays computers. how would be the best way to describe this? i mean in numbers not words lol. just pictured everyone saying rubbish, slow etc

This is my first time using toothpaste on scratched CDs. What I do is put a small amount of toothpaste on my CD and wipe it with a cloth (lint free?) in straight lines starting from the center to the edge of the CD. When I finished, I could already see most scratches are gone, but the toothpaste is still visible. I tried to run it on my PC (still with toothpaste on it) but it didn't read, obviously of the toothpaste.

What should I do to remove it?

ok if anyone can help this would be great!
yesterday my pc started to make this funny sound like a blow off valve, 5 mins after that happened my pc started to slow down, the mouse cursor would freeze but i could still select folders. shortly after that my pc crashed no blue screen nothing just dead, so i left it thinking it was over heated but it was cold so i started it up got the first beep to let me know that the mother board is ok but i get this error message now heaps of files are corrupted, so i running my avg virus protection and my spybot S & D to check for any bugs but they come up clean. now the problem get worse my pc will start up i get the beep but it will crash just after the beep the power just cuts. i cant do anything with it ive checked all cables there still all plugged in nothing is loose i cant see any problems inside. can anyone help

A tech told me that the reason is that it wasnt physically running. So i bought another harddrive. Put that one aside.Here' the Situation.Itried to conect it again a few days ago and surprise surprise..i feel it run! But everytime i put jumper to try put it as a slave, it stops running. I trie all the Jumper settings. Put the Jumpers in and it stops working. But once u remov them it starts running again. Maybe there's a short curcuit somewhere. The motherboard doesnot see this Harddrive.Even when i disconnect the master and try to connect it as the ONLY hard drive. The system just doesnt pic it up (MAYBE BECAUSE OF THE JUMPERS.) Any ideas out there??
