What is the best (fastest) cpu for a socket A slot?

i got an old pc and wanna upgrade it, currently have a 1100 processor, also does anyone know where i could buy any potential upgrades.

i believe socket a cpu's go up to 3200xp. You would need to check what the fastest cpu your motherboard is capable of taking, along memory compatability and power requirements before buying though.possibly best just to buy a new mobo/cpu/memory bundle, would recomend the intel core2duo 6xxx cpu's if you do
