Ok this is actually in reference to my last question, but not neccessary to read it to answer this one. If the cd rom I'm using to load 98 is on the same channel, can I shut down the computer mid stream and put the cd in another cd rom drive to finish setup? You see, I'm installing windows 98 and its taking forever to load.

sorry, no you cannot unplug a cd and change channels mid stream. Windows will stop and error out because it cannot locate the new one without doing a hardware scan - which is done at start up.

I recommend:
stopping the installation process now.
1) boot the win98 cd, go to a command (dos) prompt
2) make a temporary folder ( W98) or any name you like
MD c:\W98

3) copy the win98 directory off the win98 cd, into the folder
you just made
Copy d:\win98\*.* c:\w98
or Copy e:\win98\*.* c:\w98

4) re run win98 setup from that folder you just made.
cd c:\w98
setup

installing from the hard drive is much faster than installing from the cd.

You should use the same drive. Pop the disk out, and put the other in the same drive (assuming you have two identical Win 98 CDs). No need to shut down. Make sure the CDs are clean with no fingerprints or smudges.

you cannot remove the cd until the install is complete. The only option is to boot to a floppy and copy the contents of the cd to your local hard drive and run the set up from there.

No, if you stop the installation, you will need to start from the beginning. If you have your jumpers set right, it should not matter if the hard drive and the cd drive are on the same cable.
