Not negative but it's not also beneficial to do it that often. I would do it once a month depending how much you delete and download.

Good luck

It has been reported that it can conceivably wear out the hard drive if defrag is run too often. I defrag mine maybe one every 2-3 months but if you download a lot, it may be required to do it more frequently. You can use the analyze feature to see if you actually need to do a defrag or not.

Only if you're using your hard drive often enough adding and erasing data that you need to defrag that often. The damage is coming from the use, not the defragging.

I defrag about once a month.....it depends on what you are doing on the machine....downloading a lot and installing and removing programs.....the size of the programs....also when you defrag it puts stress on your hard drive and there eventually will be wear and tear from anything you do on the harddrive

it is a very good thing to do, it organizes the files and data into contiguous space so that windows can easily locate them information in 1 simple stream data. Normally file data is scattered on the drive and windows has to make small maps of the data and then reassemble it for use. Defragmenting reduces the need for windows to search for the pieces of data to put together to deliver to you.

Defragmentation can be very good for your computer, but only once a month or less. Too often and you will have to get a new hard drive sooner.
