Can i change my AMD Sempron 3000+ into a faster processor which frequency is around 3.0 GHZ?

And. will not change the whole settings of my computer.

If your Sempron is AM2, fastest AM2 is X2 6000+ w/c runs at 2.8Ghz. It now depends on whether your motherboard supports AM2 processors up to this speed level.
The 3.0Ghz FX-74 comes in a different type of socket.
