I want to buy some usb cables on ebay but they say the cables are 1.1, I would be using these on 2.0 peripherals, will that cause a problem or are the cables the same?

i disabled my friends usb port and wanted to re-enable it as my pen drive was not getting ejected.........i forgot that he has a wireless unit and when the computer is restarted nothing is happening......the BIOS recognises the keyboard and mouse but not the operating system as the USB port is disabled..........is there any way that i can solve this problem without using a standard keyboard and mouse which i would have to take from my PC all the way to his house................?

My hard drive crashed and I was told that if I froze it, that may help me be able to get some files off of it. I froze it in a bag for 12hrs and then this is what I did(all in about a half an hour): I set my new drive to Master and my old drive to Slave with the jumpers, then I booted up the computer, went under Device Manager, then I clicked on search for new hardware. My old drive showed up on that page. So I clicked on it and Properties came up, then I clicked on the Volume tab, then the Populate button. The information that came up was 0mb all down the line and the status line said unreadable.

I just want to make sure that this information is telling me that the drive is dead, and that there is no other way to get the info outside of having a pro do it. I'm guessing the computer recognized the drive enough to give the ID of it, but it is truly unreadable so it couldn't do anything further????

I bought a new lexmark x1200 printer. It comes with print, fax, photocopy and scanning.

My problem is windows always detects the printer and install the driver automatically. When i use the driver from the CD provided, i cannot install additional features like scanning and photocopy. I tried installing the driver on my other laptop and it works fine because my laptop windows asked me if i wanted to auto/manual search for the driver and i canceled. I used the CD provided and it worked fine.

How do i turn off the automatic hardware/driver detection on Windows? I am running on Windows XP Sp1

My CPU usage goes up to 100% before i start running any programs on my computer. Memory isn't a problem because i just had another 512 MB card installed. I don't know what the problem is. It also won't let me go on the internet, though it says that everything you need to access the internet is connected. The internet isn't what i'm worried about so much. Can anyone help me out and give me some suggestions? I already tried defragmenting it and that didn't work. I've scanned my computer for viruses and it says i don't have any, so i really don't know what the problem is or where it came from. Does anyone know how to bring the CPU back down?

Hello Guys, After alot of search I couldnt determine which one really suites me =>(hard-core gaming, High performance),I dont intend to make SLI or extreme OC.
Having core 2 duo e6600 and intend to upgrade after some time to the Quad,BFG 8800 GTS.
What is the best MoBo-P965 ?
GigaByte GA-DS3
Abit pro
MSI Platinum
Asus P5B-E
Please dont just pick one unless you sure, you dont know how I'm really dazzled!!
If you have other thoughts I'm happy to know it :)

i just built a computer with a ECS nforce 570 motherboard, a presler 925 3.0ghz pentium d cpu, 1gig kingston ram, evga 7600gt geforce gpu, 160 gb western digi hdd, and a 550w logisys powersupply. after powering on, everything looks like it is going fine. everything powers up, all fans, hdd, dvd, gpu, everything... i can get into bios, but no matter what 15-30 secs give or take after turning it on, it shuts off by its self. can having the case switch wire + and - turned around rma any parts ? i realized it powers on having it plugged in either way, with the same affect.. and im just hoping whatever the problem is wasnt something i did. i hope its just the powersupply.. it seems everytime i try to turn the computer on again, it shuts down after a shorter amount of time, unless i let it sit for awhile.. then ill get a good 30-40 seconds again before it just dies..

My 'c' drive's total disk space is 9.56Gb
when i open the properties of 'c' drive it shows used space : 5.46 GB
but
when i enter into 'c' drive and select all folders of 'c' drive and check their combine space then it shows only : 3.32GB

so here difference : 5.46-3.32 = 2.14
my question this 2.14 GB where used in 'c' drive

pls show me the right solution to find out the problems.

The speakers are plugged in correctly (colour coded) and work correctly when plugged into my mp3 player.
However on the computer I am not getting any sound, I have spent the day reading through and performing every fix available to me from the internet to try and get sound to work. It's a realtek ALC850 on board sound card. I have installed/re-installed drivers, deleted and re-installed windows multimedia support.
The only thing i haven't tried is enabling onboard sound in the bios because i cannot i only have the option to either disable or auto and auto doesn't seem to be working.
There are no hardware conflicts displayed in device manager and the device is recognised as working correctly. This is a brand new computer.
Thanks in advance for any help provided.

I downloaded some antivirus from the internet to my memory stick and when I try to run one of them in my pc it's asking me to choose the program... or connect to the internet which I don't have.

I've never had this problem before what I remember is when I downloaded a program, i use to just double click and it would run automatically,

Thank You!

I heard rumors that Windows Vista can lower the Frames Per Second(FPS) and my performance. I have the CD but I may not installed it if I'm not going to play right. Does anyone upgraded from XP to vista and play games such as BF2 or similar? Does it affect you're performance?

Thanks!!!
